My neighbor who is a teacher interviewed and was verbally offered a job with a private school last Thursday. The school hired her before doing a background check and said that they would be getting back in touch to have her sign her paperwork etc. She's concerned because she hasn't heard back from the school since Thursday. Is it safe to assume that the background/criminal record check is taking this long or that there was a problem with the background check? She's in limbo because she doesn't know whether to plan to work there in the Fall or to start looking for another job. Would the school call her to let her know that there is a problem? or should she call the school and say she wasn't sure if she was supposed to schedule a time to come in to sign paperwork and in that way find out if there was a problme or not? She has never gone through this much problem before getting a teaching job she told me.
