A Question or Two about Kindle Fire

Good evening: I have been contemplating the purchase of a Kindle Fire. I do have a question or two, though, before I make a decision.

My first question is about using the internet apps. Do you have to have an anti-virus or some type of protection so the Kindle can't be given a worm which ruins the Kindle? Or, is this not necessary? I have read alot about the Kindle but nothing is ever mentioned about this.

If you have a Kindle Fire, have you had any problems with it and would you recommend it? What advice would you give to someone who is considering a purchase but just hasn't done it yet?

Thank you in advance for any comments, ideas, suggestions you would be willing to share. I need all the help I can get!!!
