So awful, I hope they all get what is coming to them.

Yes, a horrible story.

But do you not realize that trafficking is commonplace here in our country?

I'm a psychiatric nurse in Albuquerque and there are humans of all ages -- citizens and non-citizens -- adults and elementary schoolchildren who are being exploited.

Drugged, abused, diseased.

Please pay closer attention.

Again, where's the outrage?

Pezzie, I'm not familiar with your posts, but why post "Horrific Story?" Just about everyone gets the news and this has been on the news severals days now.

We get "horrific" stories everyday! Everyday! Why dwell in horror? Move on to better, more enlightening things in life.

2 of my kids are social workers. This is not new. It now has a name, but it's been happening to boys, girls and women for decades. 10 years ago when my daughters told me they had to do training for spotting trafficking victims, I thought it was far fetched. I was told it happens in the best of neighborhoods as well as the worst. Often right underneath the noses of friends, relatives and neighbors.

That is a terrible story to happen to this woman. There must be more to this story than I am reading because it seems I have more questions. I was reading this article on Reuters.

The whole "story" will come out at trial, then perhaps you will understand the full extent of what this "story" encompasses and what this woman suffered.

This one woman was rescued, but there are millions of people  still ensnared in a hellish life just so others can get their "pleasure."

@ahoymate  If this story were about a child, or child trafficking, would you still hold the same opinion? These things need to be heard to bring awareness so that it can be stopped and to keep from happeneing to others. To close your eyes to the reality around you is naive and IMO irresponsible. If you didn't want to hear it, then why did you click on her post in the first place? The you want to blame her for posting it. ???

Over 50 men are on trial; another 30 or so are  yet unconvicted and they think a couple of dozen more knew about it, and no one said or did anything.  So she was violated literally hundreds of times while unconscious.  Apart from the stultifying depravity of the men, what I don't understand is how she didn't know she was being drugged all the time.  Once or twice I would understand, but this took place over 10 years.

We don't have much information, but I guess it would depend on what drug was used.

At the end of an evening you might feel tired and decide to go to bed, and wake up the next morning with no drug "hangover" .... depending on what that low life husband used on her.

if we read about this in a book, most people would say how preposterous, that would never happen.

I'm still astounded she has the courage to make this public!  Wow.  Good for her!

Settle down KittySoftPaws, the post is the top story on Community Chat screaming "Horrific Story". Don't put words  in my mouth and judgement on someone you don't know. That's the easy way out in life. Life is not that easy.

I get the news, most people do. I read and hear all the horror.

Every situation is different but trafficking of vulnerable people is happening all around us, every day, right under our noses.

Jeffrey Epstein, Diddy .... I'm sure there are many more who know how to sidestep the authorities.

IMO, the saying still applies:  If you see something, SAY SOMETHING.

And here is why many women don't have the courage to go public - I read in The Guardian today that the husband's defense attorney (and wouldn't that be a s**t job?!) is of course blaming the victim and displaying nude photos of her in court as evidence of her complicity.  Some things never change.
