That's one thing I won't have to sorry about. But. My mom put on some weight in her 70s. She had cardiomyopathy and had moved to an apartment so she was less active. It was about 20lbs. When she spoke to her doctor about it, he told her she should've worry about. It was actually a good thing because if she had a fall, she wouldn't break a hip with the padding. She swore he was serious....and she was not amused.

@rms1954 First we must love ourself, then we are able to share that love to others. To carry that in memory must be very painful, please know that you are certainly a beautiful person to share that here. Bless your beautiful heart.

I know I wouldn't like a doctor to say that either but think he is right.Over the years I have heard more thinner people braking a hip or other bones then one that I will call pleasantly plump myself included.
Remember growing up a family friend, back in the 60's who was thin getting up in years fell and broke her hip ,was operated on was recuperating well , when all of a sudden she died and the autopsy found that a small fragment of the hip bone traveled up to her heart and pierced it.

@rms1954 Surely this can't be true. Can't imagine a mom saying that to her child.
I kid you not. There were six of us and I was second in line. She had a hate for me like you would not believe.

@Imaoldhippie wrote:@rms1954 .............Im so very sorry your mom said a very unkind thing to you. If she would say that I bet she said other hurtful things to you. I was raised by a controling, verbal and physical abusive mother so I know how things like that can hurt.
We share something in common. She was both verbally and physically abusive to me. None of my other siblings. She really didn't like me and I'll never know why.

Boy, can I relate to that! I had a Mom like that also!
Nothing I did was ever good enough!
Loving yourself is not reality when you are in your teens!

@rms1954 I'm so sorry. You must have had a sad, unhappy childhood. You've also made comment about you husband being less than supportive. It would be nice if you could be free of the ugly comments of those closest to you, break free and find freedom and happiness. You deserve and have earned it.

I can imagine a mother saying that to her child. Ask me how I know.
