A Disgusting Topic About Dog Poo

how can you tell if they have worms? I have an older foster dog and he has been pooping alot lately. There are white things in his poo but I think that is from his food. How can you tell if they are worms? and can older dogs still get them?

I have a call in to the shelter to see if I can get him in next week.
