What people buy is limited by their available funds and their need for the garment. The cost needs to be within a person's means but most people have probably bought blouses (say, silk blouses) for S100 or more,
Don't know that there is any arbitrary cut off point. If I am hunkered down paying for something (as I am right now for wind storm insurance in FL), I don't buy anything.
If I have had a great pr of flattering jeans or pants, and saw a blouse that would be good with them, I'd buy it if I could afford it. Otherwise, said the spider, I lie back in my web and wait for the sale. I am a real bargain hunter. and will trail a garment I need until I can afford it.
Edited to add, I agree with the posters who say it's worth it for silk. I have many silk blouses from 25 years ago, still great looking. I have sensitive skin, and silk suits it, so I am never scratching or itching in silk. The expense is worth it.

I would pay 75.00 and more for at top that I wanted.

The only way I'd pay that for a blouse, it would have to come in petite sizing!

Not me. I buy by style and color. I rarely have an issue with anything I buy even if the price is under $20.
