Re: 70 Million Customers hit at Target

It's a big country. Target has 1500 stores nationwide. Closing a handful (and offering the staff alternative local jobs, so no one is out of work) isn't a big deal.

Re: 70 Million Customers hit at Target

I didn't go to Target over the holidays. In fact, it's been about a year since I've been and I always use cash/check. So horrible for those who used credit and have to go through something like this. But, in this day and age, it doesn't surprise me. I wonder who will be next, sadly.

Seems like cash is the best way to go in shopping.

Why would you say this?

No one individual had to pay for stolen info...

The banks, insurers and the store covered the loss.

I wouldn't want to be carrying a bundle of cash....and get robbed the old fashioned way!

Re: 70 Million Customers hit at Target

So glad I don't shop at Target and I don't own a debit card. I know they'll eventually put your money back when it's taken but I would hate the idea of it being literally gone from my account. Credit cards are much safer to use. Never saw the point of a debit card. They only benefit the banks. They make about 25 cents every time you swipe. They used to make more but it was reduced by reforms. That has only made the banks market them even more aggressively. People say ""but I can get $$ at any time of the day or night"". In all my years I never woke up needing $$ at 2 AM. I know in advance when I'll need cash and otherwise almost every place takes a credit card. It's a ""created need"".

That's a really ridiculous statement.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

ITA. There are a lot of wealthy people in the Bay Area that shop at Target. I can't vouch for anywhere else, but the stores around here are always clean and well stocked, also.

Re: 70 Million Customers hit at Target

My local Target is always immaculately clean… which is one of the things that started me shopping there in the first place. They have very helpful staff and, for the most part, things are organized and orderly. Can't imagine why anyone would call the store "trashy". Just a typically nasty comment, I guess.
