I was 9 years old and remember walking home from school. I went to elementary school in Brooklyn at the time and we all walked. Parents didn't take or pick up their kids back then unless they were in kindergarten.
Walking home I heard from some older kids about how Kennedy had been shot. I was kind of a clueless kid and kept saying that no he wasn't.
Once I got home of course I found out but I remember being bummed that there was nothing on TV for days except coverage of the assassination.
Not only was a a clueless kid but a bit of a brat as well wanting my regular shows and being bored with the adult news coverage.

I was 8...the nuns cried and we had to pray. Then were sent home. I went to city schools, so we walked to/from school. As if it were last week, when I walked in the front door, I clearly remember my mom and her sister sitting on the couch in front of tv crying...

Too many tragedies, one after another.
And then John-John, his wife, and sister-in-law killed in that airplane accident.
May they all rest in peace. ![]()

I'm watching a documentary on Showtime, JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass. It's a follow up documentary of Oliver Stone's JFK movie and covers the conspiracies after his death. Very interesting.
I was in 3rd grade. TVs were brought into classrooms so we could watch the news. I didn't really understand what was going on or the importance of it. But we all knew it was really, really bad.

@bmorechick , this is my exact memory too. I was 8. The nuns were crying, the convent was closed and my dad came to get me.

I remember seeing JFK. We were let out of high school and I went down to where he was speaking. He was so handsome. The sun was glowing on that magnificent auburn hair.
I didn't see any mention of the assassination on the news. That made me very sad.
It was also my Daddy's birthday and after that he didn't want to celebrate it.
