@missy1 Thank you for the links, but that James is not the one this thread is about.

@missy1 No biggie! Yeah, I didn't see any new information on this "James" either.

I can't watch that show.It is just upsetting to see people with so much destructive behavior.I feel bad for their family members and children who have been left to deal with the day to day lives of these people.I think somehow a lot of them don't really want to be healed and take responsibility for life and their family...like they feel that this gives them an acceptable pass and in reality they can't cope with life.

I watched the show and found the entire situation disgusting. James is a controlling, selfish, and immature bully, and his girlfriend should have taken the daughter and left. Probably the only person who I felt any empathy for, other than the daughter, because none of this is her fault, is his father. He seemed like a man who felt guilty that he caused James' morbid obesity, which he did not, and I am sure that is why he mortgaged his home. If James and his girlfriend had any moral compass, they would not have let that happen.
I was very happy that Dr. Now showed no patience to James or his girlfriend. At this point, no one should help him at all, and I am wondering if James will survive and if not, will we see that.
Our tax dollars are paying for them, and as a retired person or even if I was working, I resent paying for people who I consider to be slugs in society.
My vent for today.

He really made me angry this guy-would not stop eating...also where do they get the money for their housing and all that take out food?
His girlfriend was a really bad enabler.
Hi @catlover,
I ain't buying those weight gain numbers and time frame. That would be almost 20lbs. a week/almost 3lbs. a day. Just like losing fat at 3lbs a day is not fat loss, gaining it is the same.
He would have not had a BM or urinate during that time. Still possible to gain close to 3lbs a day? I ain't buying it and see it as another phony story/reality show, or wherever it was shown and/or heard. I'm guessing it's another reality(?) show or phony weight loss show.
If people enjoy reality(?) shows, that to me are anything but real, who am I to butt in?

@hckynut I look at it this way. These are reality shows which for the most part don't reflect reality. It took a very long time for these folks to gain this weight and it will take a very long time for them to lose said weight.
Factoring in family participation is the wild card as some are committed but most are not as they stay in the lane they are used to driving in.
Do I think he gained that kind of weight in a month or so? To be honest no but I do think he gained much more weight than what was ageed to and based on the couple of video snippettes of him eating chinese food I don't find it too hard to believe.
This guy was one of those that unfortunately will not round the corner in terms of turning his life around as there is zero evidence he finds anything wrong with his lifestyle or behavior.

I have to wonder - if one is eating nothing but krap, they probably don't eliminate that regularly. You need fiber and water and, well, nutrients, for your body to work properly.
I can't see how most of us couldn't possibly gain that much in that time. But somebody who is consuming calories (all empty and garbagy) at the rate in the tens of thousands PER DAY probably can. I can totally see it, from a mathematical POV. ![]()

I watched and was so frustrated with him.
think about that....you've been going to the bathroom in your bed for 3 yrs, no shower, no bath, your leg has stuff oozing from it...you are given a chance to improve your situation and you eat take out and make more excuses.
