50 years ago today...

...an American hero was murdered in the driveway of his modest home in Mississippi. Medgar Evers was a courageous man who braved incredible dangers to work for civil rights.

Rachel Maddow did a wonderful tribute to him tonight. I've seem some documentaries about this amazing man as well. His story is both uplifting and heartbreaking.

In his own words: "you can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea".

RIP Medgar. and thank you.
