So, my last company had a 401(k) plan which matched 50% of the money we put into it. It took a hit for the last couple of years, but now seems to be doing OK. Unfortunately, my job was eliminated and now I'm wondering whether to rollover the 401(k) into an IRA. I know very little about these things, so can anyone who's been through this give me some pointers? Everyone tells me to definitely roll it over. I'm looking for a job now and hopefully will find one eventually, but I don't think I want to roll over my old 401(k) into a new company's plan, and who knows if they will even have one.
For those who have rolled over an old 401(k) into an IRA, how is that working out for you?
