Yes, the spending shifts will affect industries, but from generation to generation, that's to be expected.
I haven't ironed anything in about 15 years, and have all the high heels I will ever need. If someone didn't have a doorbell, I would just knock on the door. No biggie.
BTW ...... Has anyone ever heard of tilty.com? I tried to access it, and I'm not sure what I got!

@pitdakota , I’m just curious about how the M generation IS planning for their financial future, that’s all.
I have a son in that age group but he’s gone the traditional route. (mortgage on small condo, traditional and Roth IRA, savings account in case of emergency)

I think it’s the way parents bring up their kids that is the determining factor in most cases.
Dont most of the posters here either have millennial children or grandchildren?
@proudlyfromNJ I was wondering the same thing. I found the list itself somewhat interesting, but some of the comments afterwards a bit troubling. I don't believe many of the responders interact frequently with millennials.....they can't, not if they really believe what they posted.
It's kind of sad that generations pit themselves against each other, instead of taking the time to listen to each other. Each has a lot to bring to the table. All should be welcome.

This was what I was saying upthread.
Question:
If the older generation is complaining about the younger generation,
WHO taught the younger generation these so-called undesirable
habits?
Answer:
The older generation....the same generation who is complaining.
Maybe they are realizing they messed up...🤷♀️
It all goes full circle!

Frugal people have reduced spending in those areas for years, while Millenials might not be spending, if they aren't saving and investing and eliminating debt, it's not gonna be a rosy outcome.

not just millennial retired people doing the same thing, I am retired got rid of newspapers, my DD has basic cable with hulu &netflex we are on her account we have prime she is on ours for movies. Read we will have more plant base products & more causal dining those expensive steak restaurants will lose money. Yes most can't afford a house but we got 1st time buyers still going on , DD took advantage of that, apts. rates going up fast. If any parents take their inherit money do it now to put down on a house instead of waiting for you to die add in 1st time buyer do it now. What ever you can give them now give it so they can get a condo or townhouse, I did it but that was 2 yrs ago that townhouse went up $40,000 in 2 yrs good investment I had no idea how fast that would go up. If I waited til I died she would be in an 1 bed 1 bath apt paying $1100 a month going no where. I just gave down payment then she pays her mortgage & utilites she would get it when I die but ok much happy in her townhouse with fixed mortgage rate than rent. Why let that money sit til we die give some up so the kids have something get out of that apt. rent.

I am a Gen X'er too. The one that gets to me is the doorbell one. People seem to forget that KNOCKING is a good way to get people know you are at their front door. I don't think I have ever lived in a house that had a doorbell. Even people I know who have doorbells I end up knocking becuase as the door bell does not work.
I can get the rest of the stuff on the list like heels as they are not confortable.
