Went out today to area outlet mall and it was obvious Christmas shopping was alive.  While I am minimizing my shopping, the experience is always satisfying.  If was fun touching, feeling fashions and seeing merchandise.  People were buying.  So much more satisfying than online perusing.

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

@Twins Mom I actually much prefer online shopping. I have more success browsing online where I can narrow my searches for sizes and colors but most importantly, I can read reviews to find out more about the item like how well it washes and wears. I also hate trying on clothes in the store so I don't.

After I have completed my gift shopping for the holidays I do love to go to the mall and just get the "feel" of Christmas in the air. At that point I have no pressure to buy anything so I just enjoy the hustle and bustle without the pressure.

@Twins Mom Costco is insane where Inlive and it will be until the New Year.

I used to enjoy the hustle in the mall but now not so much.  Our city is growing like crazy so traffic is really bad all the time.  I will probably skip the mall visit this year.

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

Although we have cut our Christmas gifts wayyyyyy down, most of my shopping is done online.  I may have to go to the mall one day to get into the feeling.  I'm ready to start my Christmas music.  SO, isn't ready for the Christmas musics yet.  I used to always go out early Black Friday, but so many places start their BF deals a month ago, it's just not the same.  I still send cards, and will finish them this week.

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

I went to CVS to pick up a prescription on Sat night.  Seems to be the night when the store is empty...........fabulous!

Then I went to Target to return some items and purchase an item..............what a MADHOUSE!  No one at the returns counter but the rest of the store and parking lot was mobbed.

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

I like online shopping because I don’t like people touching or trying on clothing I want to purchase for myself or a gift. I like that my purchases come packaged & new plus there is a wider variety of choices. I never enjoyed crowds

Yes --the shopping season is in full bloom where I live too--went out and about yesterday--to TJ Maxx, Homegoods and wow the crowds were gathered. Thank heavens my shopping is done.  I shop online mostly --and shopped in OCT. I buy  groceries online too. Think if I do go out, it will be very early in the morning----

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

I assume that because so many stores have closed, the remaining ones are full of customers who miss brick and mortar type shopping.

Unfortunately many of the better department stores - Altman's (if you are old enough to remember them), Lord and Taylor, Bonwit Teller- are gone leaving the unlovely chain stores to take up the flack.

While I miss some of the nice old department stores at holiday time, I still prefer QVC over Target and Costco.

Re: 2024 Holiday Store Shopping

I don't do "brick and mortar" shopping anymore.  The choices are far too limited.  I prefer online shopping because I have a world of merchandise to select from.   But!  I do indeed love the mall experience during the Christmas season.  I like to people watch.  I love the Christmas music, the stores all decorated.   I don't have any stress because I'm not looking for anything in particular.   I'm not in Christmas mode yet.  I save all that until after Thanksgiving.
