2020 - That Was The Year That Was

Many of us are old enough to remember the 1966 album "That Was the Year That Was."  (Even the word "album" is kind of nostalgic!)

See Wiki if you don't recall or are too young.   Granted - the basics are different (Vietnam vs. Virus).

In any event - if we (they) were to make an album for 2020 - what are some of the songs or readings you would include.

If you can't recall any "real" songs or poems/readings (satire or not) - write your own!

There is one poem that comes to mind - "Strictly Gerrm-Proof" by Arthur Guiterman.

@ALRATIBA  There was a Tom Lehrer concert from 1967 on PBS last week.  I dvr'd it but haven't watched yet.  He was an amazing singer/satirist.

@Porcelain

Thanks for that.  Interesting.

Never heard of him - found info on Wiki ...

The song is intended to sound to its Italian audience as if it is sung in English spoken with an American accent, vaguely reminiscent of Bob Dylan; however, the lyrics are deliberately unintelligible gibberish with the exception of the words "all right".[1] Celentano's intention with the song was not to create a humorous novelty song but to explore communication barriers. "Ever since I started singing, I was very influenced by American music and everything Americans did. So at a certain point, because I like American slang—which, for a singer, is much easier to sing than Italian—I thought that I would write a song which would only have as its theme the inability to communicate. And to do this, I had to write a song where the lyrics didn't mean anything."[2]
