OK, this old woman needs to chime in and ask, why in the name of everything holy would a menstruation emoji be necessary?
I know I roll old school. I don't do social media sharing every moment of my life with people I don't know, don't stand in public places talking on my cell about intensely personal things for all around to hear, and certainly don't need to share bodily functions with anyone!
In a very short period of time societal decency and values seemingly have gone down the tubes. It saddens me for future generations how little self respect people show for themselve's, leading towards less respect shown towards others.
Yeah, we've come a long way baby (not). SMH. LuLu
You just wonder when employers will require woman to use the menstraul emoji when it's time for their cycle so raging emotions can be avoided at all costs.... we had to know this was coming after the poop emoji became so popular....little self respect probably an oft shoot of reality TV....TMI ![]()

Yep. iPhone included.
Emojis take on a life of their own....intended for one thing &
everyone uses it a different way.

@sidsmomthought from my screen it was the finger...omgosh I'm losing it. But I did kind of think that was a yawn.
Thanks ![]()

You’re cool!
These universal emoji’s take on different meanings.
I saw the 3 people shaking their finger at me,
almost saying ‘tsk, tsk’ or ‘no no’.
And the Yawn could almost be used for a OHMYGOSH message.
Funny how we didn’t have these conversations 10yrs ago. 🙃

I guess it could be used for blood donation, maybe at Halloween
or for hospitals/medical context. I think menstruation is more
socially excepted overseas than here in the states.
@sidsmom Unreal, period pants.People have too much time to even dream this up?!
I just SMH and see how happy I was to grow up in the 60's and 70's!
Now 62, I see how much freedom and fun we had using our muscles riding bikes and chasing boys literally (haha) ...seemed like life was just safer too.
Life was good, simple. Wouldn't change my memories it for a minute.
Parks are empty around our area.
Sad.
The times have changed but IMO not for the better and it will only proceed to get worse as far as being social in a "normal" way. Well there is a new norm already and I just don't comply to it all. I know normal is subjective but things are just changing too fast, much is negative.
BTW the girl above looks like a young Gabrielle from Q

I saw that in the news recently but I don’t know why anyone cares. I guess
I outgrew cutesy cartoon stuff a long time ago. Not a fan, obviously.

The period emoji is intended to eliminate the stigma of menstruation. It's a long time coming as far as I'm concerned. Why should women be ashamed of a normal monthly function they experience for 30-40 years of their lives? Why do we have to hide our tampons in our sleeves when we walk to the bathroom at work or school? In some countries girls don't go to school when they menstruate or they're separated from the rest of society. A woman just died in a menstrual hut. Women's bodily functions are not disgusting or unclean. This is a tiny step in acknowledging that.
I'm happy I'm young enough to expect to see positive changes to societal thinking over the next couple of decades. I absolutely welcome them and admire the new generation who will usher these changes in!
