I read it and enjoyed it, probably because it was so different from my typical read.  I usually read mysteries, psychological thrillers, family sagas, contemporary issues themed books...and the like.  Crawdads told a good story from a different time period.  It was a refreshing change-of-pace for me.

@maximillian

Very "To Kill a Mockingbird" rewrite for different characters.

I read it a long time ago:  B.Covid.  I didn't find anything not to like and it was an interesting read.  Better than a lot of the self-involved women's sad stories that seem to popoulate the literary world now. No wonder people are depressed.

I am thinking about requesting it from the library. Reviews are all over the place. It seems as if you either love the book or hate it.

The previews for the upcoming movie, have made it seem more interesting to me.

I read this book when it first came out and felt it was my favorite book of the year.  I just saw the movie, which jogged my memory about the book.  The movie was very well done and it was magical to actually see Kya's illustrations.  If you loved the book, I think you will love the movie as well.  Go see it before it leaves the theaters!!!

@icezeus  I have not read the book either. I just never thought it would appeal to me. I went to see the movie today and loved it. I will be checking the book out of the library as soon as I'm done with my current reads. It was so good!
