I just finished From Scratch by Tembi Locke I enjoyed it very much, it was beautifully written and had me in tears bringing back painful memories, a book I will not soon forget!

I just read the summary on Amazon. Good Grief they gave everything away. Talk about your spoilers!!

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2019

Couple more books read this week:

Silent Night by Danielle Steel - Well done story line and character development. The resulting interacteraction following a death and brain injury of a young family member, which is predictable as the book progresses. Unfortunately, the author repeats sentences throughout the book, which are unnecessary and annoying. Haven't read a Danielle Steel novel in over 20 years and don't remember such a habit in previous reads. Perhaps she needs a new editor to clean up her wordy work.

The Wedding Guest by Jonathan Kellerman - Character development and plot in this thriller are well done. The story line has twists and turns, keeping the reader interested and anxious for more. Conversations between characters are often dull; not sure if that was intentional or not. However the book is an enjoyable read; I'm anxious to read more of Jonathan Kellerman's books.

Re: WHAT ARE YOU READING? AUGUST 2019

I just finished The Garden of Small Beginnings by Abbi Waxman.  The story of a widow raising her 2 young daughters after her husband dies in a car accident.  She is an illustrator and will be doing illustrations for a vegetable guide.  Her boss thinks it will be helpful if she takes a gardening class.  In that class she meets a very interesting group of people including the instructor.  Despite the background of this book it is so funny that I laughed out loud many times while reading it.  I highly recommend it.

I'm dying to read this one.  I read her other 2 and they were so good.  I won both on GR a while back.

Same here, but I wanted an inkling about what it was about. Instead I got the whole run down! If it's a book I've been waiting for, like the next book in a series, I won't even look at the fly leaf. I don't want to know-I already know I will like it so why ruin it, lol.

@SWEET

I got on the wait list at the library for one of her other books.  It would be nice if she did a follow-up to the one I just finished, too.

Who knows.  I hope there's another one.  Hope to read this one too.
