I finished Splintered Silence. What I liked was the dog Wilco who had PTSD. What a clever name considering all the US troops would sign off with, 'roger, wilco, over and out' during WWll. However, this dog was in Afghanistan. That was about all I liked. Didn't like even one character, well, maybe the police chief. Didn't understand the different tribes or Travellers as they were known-different Irish groups or such. The end got tedious with her going over and over the past up to and including the present. Nobody was happy. I nailed the culprit half way thru-it just came to me. But I didn't like the book and just wanted it finished. Would not recommend it and kind of sorry I put anyone on to it. Always a chance someone WILL like it, and good, I'm glad.

I just finished Susan Wittig Albert's new book in her China Bayles mystery series, called "QUEEN ANNE'S LACE." It was one of her better books, and I enjoyed it. It is more of a historical mystery, as China looks into the people who used to live long ago in the house where she has her herb shop business.
Next up is a new stand-alone book by one of my favorite authors, Alexander McCall Smith, called "THE GOOD PILOT PETER WOODHOUSE."

@dawg lover I don't read the China Bayles series anymore, but one of my favorites (and based on real events) involved the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 (Widow's Tears). I might try this new that you mentioned, Queen Anne's Lace.
And, of course, you have an Alexander McCall Smith book that was just published this week (!!!). I found it interesting that Peter Woodhouse is the name of the dog! Hope you enjoy it.

I just finished listening to The Escape Artist by Brad Meltzer, my first book by the author.
“Zig” is a mortician at Dover Air Force Base. A plane has gone down in Alaska and the dead are making their way to his mortuary, including Nola, a young woman who once did a kind deed for Zig’s deceased daughter. However, when the corpse turns out not to be her, Zig tries to find her and find out what she’s running from.
First of all, the male narrator was the same as another audible book and I think it really affected my opinion of the Zig character. In addition, I thought the female narrator used a lot of similar voices for different characters.
So with those annoyances in mind, I found some of the facts from the story very interesting. But, I didn’t necessarily like the main story or the motivation of the villain. I can’t really say anything else about what else I didn’t like. Nevertheless, I may be intrigued enough to “read” a sequel.
Going to listen to After Anna next.

I read Need To Know by Karen Cleveland that is supposed to be a CIA thriller. I didn't think it was much of a thriller. It was too much a domestic drama for my liking. It would make a good Lifetime or Hallmark movie.

Jud, look at the photos, book covers, graphics thread. @CareBears can usually be found there -- I posted to her wondering why she hasn't been around and she responded. .

I'm reading The Bad Daughter by Joy Fielding. I haven't read one of her books in many years, but she's still writing well, and I'm really enjoying this.
I'm trying to figure out who the murderer is...
