Should I trade in my Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage for an Oasis?

I am thinking of trading in these for an Oasis.  Have you used one?  Can you compare the models?  Many thanks for any information, experiences or suggestions!

@Sooner

I don't have the Oasis but have the regular Kindle and the Paperwhite.  I was interested in the Oasis too until I read that if you change hands while reading, every time you do, you have to turn the Oasis upside down.  That was something I had never thought about and since I do change hands while reading in bed quite often that was a deal killer for me.  Everyone's reading habits are different but I just wanted to throw that out there if it matters to you.

I LOVE my Oasis!  I like the page turner buttons. Yes, when you switch hands, it does flip over, but it’s no big deal. It will automatically flip back when you switch back. I had a Voyage but gave that to my husband. I read a lot in bed and it’s so handy and easy to use. I bought a cover (I cut off the front flap) and added a strap called Love Handle XL, it’s very easy to hold and feels very stable. I’m assuming that you’re getting a deal with a trade in. I did, too. I’m so glad that I bought mine. I have iPads and a Kindle Fire but I don’t like reading on them. Hope that helps.

I ADORE my Paperwhite. A couple of years ago I accidentally sat on my first one and got a 2nd!

I've read about the Voyage and Oasis and have zero interest in either of them. I'm a Kindle Paperwhite gal!!

@Toot1920  I'm wondering why you love the Oasis over the Voyage.  I have page turn buttons on my Voyage, too (which I love).  What makes the Oasis better?

@Sooner  I'm curious why you want to trade in your Voyage, too.

I know this is talked about a lot, but I am new to it.

I was just wondering what you like & don't like about models.

Is it just for reading?

I swore I would never read anything except for a real book, but I have started using my Amazon 7" Fire Tablet to borrow books from hoopa & overdrive & the convenience of having books ready every time I finish one is very exciting to me.

I got mine on QVC as a special & only paid $37 for it.

Re: Should I trade in my Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage for an Oasis?

@smoky22, The Oasis is easier to hold one handed. I wasn’t sure of the shape, at first, but I like that one side is wider. One of the reasons that I don’t like touchscreens for reading is that I would accidentally touch the screen and the pages would advance. Then I would have to go back to the correct page. Also, I liked the page buttons on the Oasis so much more than the Voyage. Also, on the Oasis, you can turn off the touchscreen while reading. The only problem with that was you have to go to settings every time you turn on to read. I don’t have to even do that anymore because of the wider side. The latest version of the Oasis is water resistant, not a deal breaker but a nice option. I liked the Voyage but I like the Oasis 100 time better. I asked my husband if he wants one instead of the Voyage that I handed down to him, but he likes it just fine.

Re: Should I trade in my Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage for an Oasis?

@Dusty1, I like to read on Kindle devices much better than a tablet or an iPad. Some of my reasons are listed in previous posts. You can go on Amazon and should be able to compare the different ereaders. These are just ereaders, not exactly like your Fire tablet. I have a 7”Fire tablet just to be able to read books that only come in a pdf file (those don’t work for Kindle ereaders). Kindle ereaders are mobi (I don’t really understand but guess it’s the format it’s written in). Reading on a Kindle is much easier on my eyes than on tablet.

@smoky22 @Toot1920  Thanks for the information!  I am thinking about trading it in because I have learned that technology advances and things are improved AND if you trade this stuff in while it still has value, you keep up with the operating systems and you still have some value to trade it.

To me, that's better than letting it sit around and start to become obsolete and not being able to get anything at all toward a newer model.

Re: Should I trade in my Kindle Paperwhite and Voyage for an Oasis?

I will admit that my favorite way to read is my IPad mini.  I adore that little thing!  But, I still do use a lightweight Kindle to travel and to read in bed sometimes, plus it is handy to have that book always up and running on the Kindle.
