Welcome to the new thread. Please share your likes and dislikes with us.
As always all genres are welcome.
I am currently reading Identity by Nora Roberts. I am not sure if I am going to stick with it. It's not really holding my attention.

hello @icezeus good to "see" you 😀
I am halfway through The Vicarage Murder (cozy British mystery), very well written and engaging. Also working on Ocean Prey by John Sandford- excellent so far.
I am taking so long to get these books read. Had a ten hour online training for a volunteer job. Plus my weekly Bible study involves homework. Well I must confess I've been watching a lot of football too. 😉🏈
Hopefully starting tomorrow I will have more time for recreational reading

I have been reading Freida McFadden's books. Once I start one, I can't easily put it down! They are murder thrillers. Excellent! I'm on a waiting list for 2 of her newest from my library. Highly recommend.

I just finished The Boys in the Light: An Extraordinary World War II Story by Nina Willner, I have been reading mostly historical fiction but this story about the journey of the author's father, Eddie Willner and Company D caught my eye and I am glad it did. It is wonderfully well written and for me a page turner. I learned more about WWII and although at times it was hard to read about the horrors of war it showed the resilience of the human spirit.
Next up is Art Spy, another nonfiction, this time about WWII and stolen art.

I don't know if anyone has read "FOX" by Joyce Carol Oates. I find it disturbing to read, however I am trying to get through this book because I feel that I am a mature woman who should put her personal feelings and opinions aside and be able to read in the context that it was meant. The disturbing part aside I think it is a compelling who dun it.
If anyone else has come across this new novel I would be interested in your thoughts. The reviews are very good and Joyce Carol Oates is a revered author. The book is about 600 pages and I am at 150. Although I have read several of her books this one is quite different.

II just finished " The Hunting Wives, " by Mary Cobb. It is not my usual kind of book and It gave me the icks. I understand it is a show on Netflix, but the characters are so creepy I will not be checking it out.

@mildoo I did read Fox, which I found unsettling, at the very least. The book did open my eyes to the manipulation and tactics employed by Mr. Fox to achieve his goals. Unfortunately, I think there are too many of Mr. Fox's ilk in today's world.

@maisiebrook Thanks for the recommendations. Just put them both on hold at the library.
I'm continuing my reading of "escape fiction" with Danielle Steel books.
Forgot to mention that I also read Next to Heaven by James Frey. About an exclusive Connecticut suburb with an eventual murder. The funniest thing I read in the book was when a somewhat dim bulb resident was being igrilled by a detective and said he got takeout from "Kentaco" - the police indicated there was no such restaurant in the community. Yes, it was a combo takeout place of Kentucky Fried Chicken and Taco Belll. Now I'm forever going to look for "Kentaco" on my travels.

My latest book is Maggie; Or, A Man and a Woman Walk Into a Bar by Katie Yee. This is a little 200 page book about a woman who is facing breast cancer and a divorce at the same time. It is mostly stream of consciousness with no chapters. There are lots of Chinese folk tales included as she tells stories to her two children. I did not really connect with this book. It is described as witty and delightful in some blurbs, but I found it to be very sad.

I have just finished reading "SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO" by Fannie Flagg. Very good book. I always await a new book by her. This is short stories which I do not normally like but this was exceptional.
I am going to start THE LOCKED WARD by Sarah Pekkannen. I generally like her books.
I have finished reading GREENWICH by Katherine Broad a debut book and FORGET ME NOT by Stacy Willingham. I semi-enjoyed these books. Good in some places not so interesting in others.
