I read three or four books a month. Hardcover or paperback only. Mostly public library copies, unless I am re-reading a book I own. Only fiction, mostly mysteries/crime. Other formats have never tempted me so far. I try not to buy any more books and if I do, I pretty much have to donate one I own for space reasons. The pandemic was rough when the libraries were closed; fortunately I had a backlog of unread books and I did purchase some then. Was so happy when they reopened!

@JoyFilled Warrior - I love to read!
My good friend owns an independent bookshop.
I read both for pleasure and for work.
I didn't want a Nook, but then my family gave me one for Christmas and I check @Stargazer77 's thread every week!
My favorite is a hardcover book.
Every year for Christmas DH gets me a "vacation" book. This year the author did a book signing not far away so I read it early.
So this year I chose my "vacation" book! ![]()

Hi @beach-mom ![]()
How kewl!! Hubby seems very thoughtful!
I LOVE author signings & trying to attend any I could, which was quite a few. And love Author Readings, which were much much less so opportunities for me.
Anywhere I traveled, I went to their local Used Bookstores, (&, their local Sewing places). Amazing how many different items they offered than what I was used to in my area.

Been an avid reader since childhood.
Don't have an e-reader/other but would still prefer an actual book.
Prefer hardcovers since they're more comfortable for my hands, but also read softcovers and paperbacks.
Love the whole tactile experience. 8)
Get used ones online at Better World Books, Ebay, Thrift Books, Amazon, and Abe Books.

Yeah, me too
Im not sure it might not just be what I'm used too.
The real thing is - i really need to be able to write-highlight those words/notes in the book.
And Im not used to sitting still for long, regardless.
Just now, i got up to scrub my nails before painting them. Reading my Cell at this new cute little luncheonette I have, & Sweetie thinks she OWNS that table. She kept laying, touching, rubbing, changing my Cell readings constantly, paying me NO attention to get on her nearby shelf. NOPE. Imagine if electronic was my only mode of reading?
She doesnt do this when I have a book in the same situation.
@JoyFilled Warrior : is Sweetie your avatar?

Nope that's not Sweetie. She doesnt take kindly to her pic being taken.
Y'know, curiously, Sweetie does something strange! The 2 houses I lived in before, she'd run away, FAST, if someone knocked, & came to the door.
Here in this Apt, she runs TOWARD the door with any knock, or person.
Go figure!

So glad that poor Sweetie and you were meant-to-be. ![]()
Perhaps she could be part of your new nic... i.e.: SweetiesMom.

@JoyFilled Warrior - I WISH we had a used book store around us! There is one at the beach we go to, and I spend hours in it!
DD and I have driven hours to book signings. And my friend has hosted some popular authors too. I have met some interesting people, like Idina Menzel - so sweet, Sarah Ferguson - very pretty in person, John Stamos - oh he smelled so good! ![]()
