Your words are always a pleasure for me to read, @3cupcakes, whether you're being sweet (like now) or firm (like in the other one).

 

I think we must be about the same age.  I remember I must have been a freshman or maybe sophomore in high school in the mid 60s when we learned that one of the seniors who had gone off to Vietnam had been killed.  He was the first from our school.  The whole school mourned.   Later other classmates went off to that war also.  

 

Glad you like Dismas Hardy, too.  I already loved elephants and had some around the house, but when I read that he (the character) had a row of decorative elephants on his mantelpiece in his living room, I got myself some more little elephants.  They live in the kitchen now.

I first started reading the books because they are set in San Francisco, but I would have liked them no matter what the setting.
