@Alter Ego I am so glad someone felt like me! Yes it made me laugh! It was a  book made for holidays when you don’t have the energy to read the more intense books. I really enjoyed the characters and could get into them. Didn’t you love Frances?

I am so glad that I read through the entire thread. I literally had just put this book on my list to reserve from the library and started reading all of the negative  reviews. (Yikes)

Someone suggested starting with her first book Three Wishes, so I will request that one from my library and see if I care for this author or not. .

@number one queenthere's a number of us who loved it.  Frances is one of my favorite characters of Moriarty's.  And it's still tops on the bestseller lists and made a lot of Best Books of 2018 lists...

Yes, Frances is one of my favorite characters Moriarty has created.  And the end is one of my favorite ends, maybe my favorite ending she's done.

Nicole Kidman owns the rights  and she supposedly wants to play Masha.  Great fit.

The only book of hers that I've read is What Alice Forgot.  I really enjoyed the book, and was planning to read more of her work.  I'll skip this one.  Thanks!

That was me.  I hope you love Three Wishes.  I was charmed by  it, and impressed it's a first novel.

Or if it looks better to you try her second novel, The Last Anniversary.  Scribbly Gum Island is still with me, it's so vivid.

I tihnk there's broad consensus that The Husband's Secret is her best so there's that.

Well now there are at least 4 of us going against the tide, as it were:

@Alter Ego @LoriLori  and @number one queen  and me

I'm another one who loved this book.   I loved the Husband's Secret too.  That one was more serious.  This one was more fun. I did love Frances and I loved the ending.  It's too bad so many posters gave up on it.   Maybe it was the wrong time.

Not sure where I read this (so take it with a grain of salt), but Frances is the most like Moriarty herself. Same age and profession. Attitude probably too. Somewhere I thought she commented on it.

@Ainhisg

I read about 100 pages of the book and gave up.  Have enjoyed all her other books so was disappointed in this one.

It's interesting that you have brought up this book tonight. I checked it out from the public library last week and have read the first 6 chapters. I almost returned it to the library today because it just doesn't hold my interest. This is my first Liane Moriarty book so I am thinking maybe I should keep reading and give it more of a chance. Your post makes me think I should just PTB. Anyone else not loving this book?

@deerfeeder- you're not alone. I took this book out of the library twice, and both times I returned it because it wasn't "doing it" for me. Twice is the most I'll give a book. More than that is a waste of precious reading time.
