New software updates for Kindle Oasis 1 and 2, also for basic Kindle 8th generation

The update 5.9.2.0.1 will download automatically or manually. I did mine manually for the O2 and basic and it works great.

Disable Touchscreen: Choose this setting to temporarily disable the touchscreen. You can turn the page using the physical buttons on your Kindle. To enable the touchscreen again, press the power button once to put your Kindle in sleep mode and once more to wake it back up - or simply let your Kindle go to sleep on its own. I

Thanks for the info. I have both of the Oasis models. I sometimes hit the touchscreen accidentally so I might try the disable feature. I like the bold text option that came with the last update.

I have both generations of Oasis but prefer first generation. Called Amazon about getting audible and was told by tech support that it wasn't available for generation one. After being on the phone for over an hour and being switched between tech support was finally told that there is an update but you have to do it manually on a computer. Since I haven't used a computer since I got my I pad years ago I am out of luck and won't be able to get audible on my first generation. This was my worst experience with Amazon and I have been a great customer. I think they have gotten too big and do not have the customer service they did before. Too bad.

That's not true. Mine ( O1 ) updated automatically updated. You could just use a friend's computer. Sign in and download the file put it on your kindle and then delete the file and log out.

Could you tell me when you got the Oasis 1 automatic update for audible? I got the bolder print and font one a month or 2 ago automatically but not the audible. Kindle support didn't even know that the generation one had an update for audible. My friends all have I pads like me. We gave up computers years ago. I do love to read so got the Oasis when it came out and love it. Would really like to have audible on it. Thank you.
