I have received an email saying my trusty kindle paperwhite will not be supported after May 20th.
I am trying to decide between the colorsoft and the paperwhite.
Does anyone have advice on whether one is better than the other?
How is the reading in sunlight with the colorsoft?
Thanks in advance for any and all comments and advice.

Why not buy an Amazon Fire tablet? They are multifunctional, reasonably priced & can be used as a computer too - surf the web, get email, play games, shop, watch films, as well as easily connect to Amazon shops to download books.
If you need a lot of space you can insert those little cards to expand your usable space.
I've several books downloaded on mine most of which were very low priced on Amazon book deals.
I think they have a club too where you can get free books.

@hgsuddle Read the responses in this posting......
Heads up if you use an older Kindle device 😢

I am a big fan of my paperwhite, actually I have two.
Personally I am not willing to spend more to have color. Is that something you desire? Might be the deciding factor.

Because reading on a Kindle and reading on a tablet are completely different. Tablet reading is very hard on the eyes.

I have a paperwhite and love it, but the color version appeals to me. I'd like to get magazines and embroidery books that would work much better with color. But after reading the reviews on Amazon, I have decided to wait until the 2nd or 3rd generation of the color version. I think the bugs will be worked out by then.

@hgsuddle @sandy53 I considered a Kindle Colorsoft, but the reviews have not been good enough for me to justify the high cost. I've had several Kindle Fire models. The early versions died pretty quickly. I take the Fire tablet on vacations to watch movies and read on the plane. At home I read on a Kindle Paperwhite, and surf the web on my iPad. That works the best for me. 🙂

I have a colorsoft but cannot recommend it at this time. The colors are soft and drab and the print quality is not as the Paperwhite Signature I have (I think that's the name). Anyway, it also doesn't do dark mode I don't think (I haven't found it at least).
It just isn't great and is expensive. Anything needing color I read on my laptop or I pad.

Alternating between a tablet and an e-reader is the ideal option. The e-reader is best for pure reading, but a tablet does color like magazines, comics, etc, better.

@Sooner Thank you for this advice- it was exactly what I was looking for. I am going to go with a traditional paperwhite.
