Since I just recently rewatched Stephen King's Misery I decided to read the book.

I am listening to the audiobook and its even more graphic than the movie, its horrible! I guess I should have expected that.

I remember it as very over-the-top.

I remember that one as being very nasty too! Don't think I'll watch it again. Was that one Kathy Bates' first starring roles?

I just watched it again today on Tubi. I like the movie. Never read the book.

@spumoni99  The book IS ALWAYS better than the movie.

Another thing, as a fan of Stephen King from day 1, often his books do not always transfer so good over to movies.  Offhand, I can think of  3 good transfers from book to movies:

Misery

Salem's Lot

Christine

@Mz iMac I think the movie was better than the book in this case.

@spumoni99  Misery?  The book was very graphic.  Movie had the sight & sounds along w/the graphics.  Maybe 50-50?

@Mz iMac The injuries in the book were far worse than the movie.

@Mz iMac  In an interview James Caan mentioned his screaming in the worst scene was real he said it freaked him out.

I Never read the book, but the movie was excellent in my opinion-very well done! Kathy Bates and James Caan were both excellent in their roles-Kathy won the Oscar that year.....
