I just cracked open ( metaphorically) the Madonna Bio. It is 1433 pages so we'll see how long I can hang in.

Anyone else planning to read?

Should be an amazing read...she always struck me as someone who is capable of fierce discipline and intention.  I would be especially interested in her years of commitment to the study of kabbalah and the effect that had on her life.  Her behavior more recently has been controversial and, in some cases, disturbing.  Should be an interesting book, wonder what your take away will be.

Madonna did a lot in her life but I can't imagine reading 1400+ pages about it. She had 1 song in her early days that I liked. Otherwise, her music isn't my fav.

I'll write a quick review when I am finished, I want to read it because she was a pioneer in an industry that isn't great for women.

Have to admire Madonna for being so aggressive in a man's world, especially back then!

Her birthday is August 16, also my dad's birthday, and he was just like her - ambitious, aggressive, and a real go-getter.

Leo's are usually hard workers and get what they want, they are a Fire Sign.  (I'm a Capricorn, an earth sign, but with Leo rising and Leo moon sign, so double fire!) LOL

@Ronettes Indeed. Especially in the music industry which is so exploitative. As I read, I get angry on Madonna's behalf.

I am a Taurus with Virgo all over the rest of my chart. So I am an exacting a**hole. /s

Interestingly, I was just watching a documentary on Madonna -

Her early days in New York City, with her old boyfriend and his brother, who had a band 'The Breakfast Club' in which they allowed Madonna to sing, and they taught her to play drums.

She lived with them in an old abandoned synagogue in Queens during all that time, then demanded that they allow her to be the lead singer.

When they denied her request, she went off on her own, homeless and penniless.  And almost went back home.

Madonna certainly has courage and her own mind.

Here's the link to that documentary, with those who lived through those times with her:
