I'm with you @itsmetoo on Lessons in Chemistry. And, we are indeed in the minority. The premise sounded good but the book just fell apart for me. Heard they made a miniseries out of it. No Thanks. Happy Reading!

I just finished THE PUSH which I thought was really good.  I've just started THE WOMEN by Kristin Hannah.  I usually love her books so expect to like this one too.  One I recently finished that was very popular but that I did not like was LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY.  I know I'm in the minorty regarding that one.

@nwbabs  Yes, there is a miniseries on Apple TV.  No thanks for me too.  For me the book started out ok but then went downhill fast.

Re: MARCH 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

With all the talk of the show The Feud, I just finished reading "Deliberate cruelty: Truman Capote, the millionaire's wife, and the murder of the century" by Roseanne Montillo.

It is a story about how author Truman Capote became obsessed with the true crime story of a Manhattan socialite who shot her banking heir husband in 1955 thinking it was someone breaking into their home, and discusses how publication of TC's book led to her suicide and his own scandalous downfall.  All the "Swans" are included in the story.  It was interesting, but a little jumpy between the history of Ann Woodward (the socialite) and Truman Capote's life.

These people's lives were a mess!

hello my friend. I'm halfway through Judgment Prey. You will love it

@smoochy

Waving hello back. I love my Lucas Davenport. I am a few books from the end of the series, but I am dragging my feet. I do not wish to be caught up.

I see that John Sanford  has another book that will be released this year called Toxic Prey.

@icezeus  @smoochy

I need advice ... I read the whole John Sanford series several years ago, but have no idea where I left off or who all the characters are.

Should I go back and read the first book all over again and then see how much comes back?

I enjoyed all that I've read, so I'd like to catch up.

Any suggestions?

@Tinkrbl44

You might want to try, going to a site that offers brief synopsis of each book. Such as Fantastic Fiction and Good Reads. Start towards the end of the list and see after reading the summary of the book if it sounds familiar. If so then you most likely have read it, if not then you probably have not.

Hi everyone,

I'm currently listening to this light romance series,

The Café on Amelia Island: Seven Sisters, Book 2, by Hope Holloway.

I finished another light romance in a series,

A Nantucket Promise: A Nantucket Sunset Series, Book 5, by Katie Winters.

I finally finished listening to Barbra Streisand's memoir, My Name Is Barbra.   As I said in previous posts, it is long, detailed, enjoyable,  funny, heartwarming, and FANTASTIC!  I LOVED it. I am a LONG TIME fan.  HIGHLY RECOMMEND

After listening to So Many Steves last month, I just finished listening to Shopgirl by Steve Martin today. Must say I enjoy his writing. Time will tell if I watch the Shopgirl movie with Claire Danes and Martin.

Started listening to Being Henry: The Fonz and Beyond by Henry Winkler. As I recall, a few folks on the Book Club forum recommended it last year. Happy Reading!

@nwbabs  thanks. Smiley Happy  It wasn't a chore.  I love her and her book was very interesting for me. My husband, every time he heard the audio book, would say,  "You're STILL listening to this book? " lol

Re: MARCH 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

[ Edited ]

finished Absolution today. Historical fiction about the wives who accompanied their non-military husbands(engineers, contractors etc) to Viet Nam in the early 1960s. It was intense.

On another note, a lot of readers mention or recommend Goodreads. My experience hasn't been positive. I find the reviews annoying because they are mostly just overly detailed rehashes of the plot. Often with spoilers that you have no idea are coming! I was so put off by that. It ruined a couple of books that I had considered reading. For keeping track of my reading and making my own notes and reviews, I use the app Reading List. Very simple and easy and best of all, no one on it but me lol

Re: MARCH 2024 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Finished The Reunion, by Samantha Hayes. I would rate it a solid 3.8 out 5. It was a good book, started off slowly, but did pick up and ended with a little twist.

I have other books by her, and they are all pretty good reads.

I am now starting Two Nights in Lisbon, by Chris Pavone. Starts off really good....
