My Kindle is on the fritz; it has been acting wonky for a while now. I’ve gotten years of enjoyment out of it, and I think it’s just time for a new one. Just wondering how easy it is to transfer the books stored on one Kindle to another Kindle? Or maybe it’s as easy as setting up the new Kindle with my Amazon account? Thanks in advance for any info! 😊

It really is as easy as once you set up your new Kindle, using your Amazon account, all of your books will automatically be there on your new Kindle.

@Tommie1965, I don't know what type of device you are currently using to post, but have you downloaded the Kindle app to that device? Once you sign in to your Amazon account all of your Amazon Kindle purchases are available. At least that's how it is on my Apple devices.

Re: Kindle Question

@Tommie1965, just make sure that you use the same Amazon account as your old one. Sometimes you'll get a message to put in an OTP (one time password/passcode). You should receive that code on your cellphone or tablet. I'm not sure if that only happens if you use 2 step verification on your Amazon account or if it happens to anyone registering a Kindle. I have a Signature Paperwhite and I love it! I, also, have a Kindle Oasis. I like that one, too. I thought that I would like  one that had the physical page turn buttons, but my Paperwhite is very easy to use.

You might have to go to Content & Devices (under your picture on the Amazon website), checkmark the books that you want downloaded onto your new Kindle.

Thank you everyone who responded. I appreciate everyone’s advice. I have thought about downloading the app to my phone, but I’d also like a separate device just for reading so I think I want to be a new one. I’m thinking of the Paperwhite. Thanks again everyone♥️

While it's true that you can download the Kindle app onto an iPhone or iPad, the Kindle Paperwhite offers a much better and more comfortable reading experience.  You can use the Paperwhite in the sun (love it on the beach) and also reading without a light on (reading in bed).  I regularly read for hours at a time, and the strain on the eyes would be very uncomfortable doing that on an iPhone or iPad.  My Paperwhite is the 10th Generation, it looks like there's a newer Signature Edition out now.

The Paperwhite is a very good option and is the one I use. The app is very helpful on tablets or a phone for things like a cookbook that has color photos. Using both is often the best overall option. For pure reading, you'd be challenged to find something better than the Paperwhite. But for things with lots of color photos, cookbooks, magazines, etc., the app on a tablet, or phone is best.
