I've fallen in love with the DVD I got from Netflix and wondered if anyone liked the books and if they followed the first year.
(Please no spoilers). Thanks.
I get my DVD with the second half of the first year tomorrow.
I don't have Stars though, so ill have to wait until the second year is finished to get it! ![]()

@ECBG I'm bumping this up because I know there are people here who have read the series.
I remember when it was on people talked about it vs the books. My daughter read all of the books but said she tried to watch the TV show and it wasn't as good as the books but stopped watching it.
Everyone is different. Hopefully someone will respond as I KNOW some people here said they'd read the books.

@ECBG OK, I'm going fishing here. I remember a number of people read the books and commented on it.
You do know there are many, many of them.....don't you? That is going to cut into your TV viewing.....you do know that right?

I've read all the books and watched the Series. The books are fantastic; writing as good as it gets. The Series follows the books but can't possibly cover everything. Most romance novels are around 325 pages and each of Gabaldon's books are often over 1000 pages. They are more a saga, a journey, that takes the reader through many story lines. If you are a book lover, you will love the Outlander series.

@ECBG This one here isn't from the forum but these people read the books and saw the series:

This is interesting:

And finally the QVC forum way back when we first talked about it.
OK, now you sweetie can pat me on the back. ![]()

I've read all the Outlander books. They were fantastic. In fact, my husband read them all too! I only saw the first episode of the tv series, but I already had such vivid images of what I thought the characters and scenery looked like that I didn't care for that interpretation of the story.
I highly recommend the books.

I read the series several years ago, and again each time a new book was introduced. The TV series is nice, but the books are so much better. The TV series cannot capture all the little nuances and background that are in the books, so it seems to be just a shell of the story.
I found the books to be so riveting that I, and my friends felt the same way, had to have the next one in the series available before finishing one. I needed to start the next one right away. Do read the books. It is an excellent way to spend some time.
