I like mysteries best, but I also like contemporary fiction, especially if the main character is female.  In general, I think it's more important for me that I like the writing style of the author as opposed to any specific genre or type of plot.

I love to read, but have really become consumed with World War ll, specifically the Holocaust, in the last couplde years.
