Educated

I'm about to start this book. It's a memoir about a woman who grew up in a very isolated survivalist family. Kids never went to school. They lived entirely off the grid, away from everyone and everything.. One of her brothers finally left, found education and got into college. She knew she had to escape too. Her journey is remarkable.

I read this book.  It hurt my heart a little.  There were similarities in my childhood to Tara Westover's in the isolation, abuse, and her moving passed all of that.  It was a good read.

I did not like that book at all and never finished it.  There were too many episodes that I found hard to swallow.  Won't say anything more for those who want to read it.

I wasn't abused, but was raised around older adults and kid life was very difficult and puzzling when I had to start school.  Still is in many ways that I don't understand a lot about why people do things.

I read that book about 5 years ago after hearing an interview with her on PBS. I thought it was excellent. Amazing what she accomplished especially with her childhood situation.

Read it a few years ago.

I'm skeptical that her story was acurately told.

Ohhhhhhh, I am goin to read this. Sounds good, although sometimes books like this make me mad, lol. The GLASS CASTLE was like that.  I would swear, and yell at the mom and dad, here and there out loud. My husband was like. WHAT? WHAT??

It's going to make you mad.

There's no need for any of this ignorance in America in the 21st century.

It is a good book and in the end, the author overcomes so much. I like to read about strong women who overcome life's challenges. Reminds me that I can also overcome my own life's challenges.

Detachment isn't the absence of love but the ability to take care of yourself in the midst of someone else's choices.
