Stevieb, I am so enthralled with all of Miss Read's books. I borrowed most of them from the library, over time, and also bought the handful of other books I could not find.

I LOVE MISS READ.

Thank you for the recommendation of Fantasticfiction.com. I love this site. I have already shared with a co-worker and one of my good GF's. The site just works for how my mind works.

I love the order, and its a very intuitive website.

I love the site, too.   It's so helpful ... and easy to use.  Glad you are enjoying it.

Re: Do you read books in series?

I have read all of the Outlander books and if anyone is interested, Diana Gabaldon announced that the last in the series will be released this fall.

@insomniac2  I have no idea if you're still active on the boards and so sorry I'm just seeing this post.  The Miss Read books were, to me, a revelation. I enjoyed each and every one of them thoroughly and will begin re-reading some of them. Gentle, well written prose is hard to find!

A belated message for Stevie B

Dear StevieB,

I have been trying--unsuccessfully, to respond to various matters on the forums. I have talked to half a dozen CS agents, who also have been unable to assist me.

HOWEVER, I just got off the phone with yet another agent. She helped me for many, many moments. And we were able to get me into the forums! (Yay!).

All I had to do, instead of choosing yet another nickname, was to enter the one I've had for many years. AND IT WORKED. I AM IN.

So, Stevie B, I am finally responding to your post about Miss Read.

I have read, to date, 40 Miss Read books. I basically checked them out of my library, and then went to a state-wide search feature.

Then I went online and ordered other books.

I have hit the end, evidently, with just a handful of books that I cannot locate.

Anyway, I adore Miss Read. . .so calming, so charming.

I also love books that are a bit more insane.

I appreciate that someone else has heard of her!

Re: Do you read books in series?

Fannie Flagg ( also watched all of the old You tube interviews I could find with her). I really enjoy her books . I used to spend extra $s for the large print when I could find them . Now use  Audible.

Loved Sue Grafton . Although they are a bit dated. She always came back home to a telephone answering machine. When she was in a pinch I was always thinking -- use your cell phone!--oh wait a minute-- not as common place as now.

My mother made sure I had Trixie Belden books. I named one of my dogs Trixie.

Even though not a series I have enjoyed Mary Higgins Clark's books. Usually pretty similar story lines but a simple pleasure to me.

How would you describe this series?  Mystery ....  political thriller .... something else?   TIA

I have tons of cozy mysteries that I re-read.  I do love my cozies.   My DH has read all the Gabiel Allon books by Daniel Silva and I thought I might give it a try.  OMG!  I am now on book 16 and have been reading them one after another, cannot put them down.  I just finished book 15 at 3:30 a.m.  Incredible series.  Years ago I was hooked on the Robert Ludlom books.
