Re: DECEMBER 2023 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

 "It's a Long Story" by Willie Nelson. He's one of my favorite artists and I like reading about him. He has lived an interesting life, and met a number of characters. Nelson has always been a kind of rebel, breaking rules and refusing to adapt to the status quo. He has become famous by doing things his way.

I finished listening to WEYWARD by Emilia Hart. This was the winner in two of Goodread's Readers Choice categories.Certainly wasn't bad and I liked the mystical. But am a little tired of women/girls being abused.

@Alter Ego  I started Weyward two different times and gave it up each time because of the issue you mentioned,  I'm done with it.  Appreciate your review.

I see you mentioned Chain Gang All Stars in your favorite books post and I'm still on a long waitlist for it.

Same with The Frozen River

I'm glad to know they're worth waiting for.

@Lilysmom1

Thank you for the kind words. I really do enjoy or thread for book readers. I have not been able to read as much these last few weeks because I have been suffering from vertigo. Several doctors appointments and hopefully resolution soon, but Until then I can read at most a chapter or two.

@Alter Ego , I read and enjoyed it.  Hope you do too.

I am actually desperate for a good book.  They seem hard to come by these days and I find I am just coasting...

Finished my last book of the year.  The Chaperone by Liane Moriarty about a woman from Kansas who chaperone's the soon to be famous Louise Brooks to NYC.

I liked the last half of the book more than the first.

My last book of the year was Noelle by Greg Kincaid about changing families and a rescue dog with some Christmas thrown into the mix.

I read the 7 short stories in White Cat, Black Dog by Kelly Link.  They are supposed to be remixed fairy tales, described as The Brothers Grimm meet Black Mirror meets Alice in Wonderland.  As usual, some stories were better than others, but they were all rather bizarre.
