Re: APRIL 2026 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Beck Dorey-Stein's Spectacular Things was a good book about sisters, soccer, and some sadness.

I read Say You'll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez.  She has become one of my favorite authors because of her funny dialogue, smart characters, and insight into relationships.  This book is about a couple struggling with a long distance relationship, a mother with dementia, and a family who needs to be a team.  It is more serious than her other books and how she deals with dementia is very well done.  I recommend it.

For art lovers and others: Camille Pissarro by Anka Muhlstein. This is a short, well written biography of this great artist who was a major figure in the Impressionist movement. From his beginnings of life in the Carribean to the center of artistic life in France, this great artist, along with some of his contemporaries, comes alive on the pages of this book.

My most recent read was Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult and I highly recommend it.

This is a novel about a Black single mother who is a hardworking and highly experienced nurse who encounters racism on the job.

I have read several of J.P.'s books, and to be honest, they are hit or miss with me. This is definitely a hit!

One of my favorites by her.  Haven't read one of her books I haven't liked yet and I've read a lot by her.

@SWEET Have you read The Book of Two Ways by JP? I'm having a hard time getting into it but I'm not giving up yet. I've enjoyed most of her books but every once in a while...

Re: APRIL 2026 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I just finished Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. She's been around a long time and also wrote the Will Trent series so I'm thinking I must have read her before but I'm just not sure. Anyway, don't read this book it's disgusting and graphic and it gave me nightmares. I don't know how she lived with this book in her head while she was writing it. The only reason I finished it was I needed to know if the two women who were in trouble survived. It's about a family whose oldest daughter was kidnapped and how it affected all of them and also it is about a woman (coincidentally the sister of the kidnap victim) who has a husband with a secret life. I usually pass on my read books to my daughter or a home bound friend but I am actually putting this book in the trash. And I love and cherish books but i wouldn't foist this garbage on anyone else. I don't think I've ever had such a strong negative reaction to a book.

Tell us how you really feel, abbalulu!
