Re: APRIL 2021 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I'm reading "Just One Look" by Harlan Coben.  What a thriller!!!!  Almost finished and can't wait to see what happens.  I have never been disappointed in any of his books and have read a lot of them.

I just finised  The Night Swim by Magan Goldin, Wow what a book it was excellent, about a murder/rape case told in a Podcast, yes in areas it was hard to read, but the ending was EPIC, so so good!

@CareBears

I didn't read this one but did read her first one The Escape Room.  That was a wild ride.  Not my type of book but I must have received a free ARC.

Re: APRIL 2021 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

I read My Trip Down the Pink Carpet by Leslie Jordan.

I also read The Warehouse  by Rob Hart which was set in the near future in an America where an Amazon like company has just about put every other company out of business. It was food for thought. I don't know why but I am a fan of dystopian fiction. But you can't read too much of it as it is usually depressing but also thought provoking.

Re: APRIL 2021 READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?

Just wanted to give an update on some of the books I read the last month.  It looks like everyone is busy reading here too! Thanks for sharing your finds.

“Distress Signals” by Catherine Ryan Howard-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This is the authors debut novel and the second I’ve read of hers that I’ve loved. It took a little bit to unravel because there were a few plots going on at the same time but it’s full of twists and turns trying to find out what happened to two women under seemingly similar circumstances on a cruise ship. It’s a very elaborate set up and kept me guessing as to how these disappearances were related. Very impressive!

“A Good Marriage” by Kimberly McKreight-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love books that have me snookered and this one did the trick! An old friend contacts the main character to represent him in a murder trial in which he is accused of killing his wife and she reluctantly agrees which uncovers some of the secrets in her own marriage and leaves her questioning if you really ever know someone.

“His and Hers” by Alice Feeney-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Told from three POV-a reporter, a police detective and the killer. They each have their own version and each have their own secrets that could come to light during the investigation. Lots of red herrings to throw you off track and keep you satisfied if you enjoy books of this nature. One caveat and I did not know this going in-there is a scene with animal cruelty so I can’t recommend it without some reservations.

“The Woman Next Door” by Sue Watson-⭐️⭐️ I normally enjoy her books more than this but it kept edging toward the line of ridiculousness and utter unbelievability that I kept reading thinking, surely there will be a reason that will tie this story together and save this book from itself but alas it was not so.  The main character’s gullibility was unsurpassed.

“The First Mistake” by Sandie Jones-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Very good psychological thriller that starts with one mistake that has ramifications years later in a surprising way. Is her ex really dead, is her husband the man she thinks him to be, and how is her best friend unwittingly wrapped up in this. Great unraveling though it was a little convoluted in areas and I had to go back a few passages to make sure I understood it.

“My Ex-Best Friends Wedding” by Wendy Wax-DNF  I found it difficult to get into so I stopped listening after a few chapters. I may revisit it later and see if it was just the mood I was in that day since it did get good reviews.

“Here to Stay” by Mark Edwards-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Talk about satisfying. This is the book I wanted his other book “The Houseguest” to be. His new wife’s family comes to visit and soon, it is apparent they have no intention of leaving. Lots of backstory and how far will you go to get rid of these unwanted grifters and how much involvement does his wife have? It’s seriously a great book.  I think my jaw was opened the entire time.

I’m listening to “The Couple Next Door” by Shari Lapena now and it’s kind of blah compared to her other books so far.

@beckyb1012  Aww, you're so sweet and I'm sorry about the confusion. My other name didn't fit on one line and I honestly didn't think anyone would notice or wonder! Lol
