I was "gobs excited-heart melting-out of my head-ecstatic", when I got the news H by Halston fashion was coming to QVC. What's more, fashion philanthropist, trend-setting, "dances-to-the-beat-of-his-own-drum-and-let's-play-dress-up" Cameron Silver, was the guest and design team collaborator. Of course this was a perfect excuse to tap into my nosey, news days and CONDUCT AN INTERVIEW!! So here's the Q & A between Cameron and moi! I asked, he answered.
S: What is Halston’s full name?
C: Roy Halston Frowick
S: Halston actually started out designing hats in the late 60’s. I hear Jackie Kennedy’s pillbox was his creation. Wow, tell us more. A first lady. And what other celebs did Mr. H dress?
C: Like many designers of his generation, Halston began as a milliner and became a household name following his legendary pillbox hat for the First Lady. As he segued into fashion, his notable clients included Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Bianca Jagger, Beverly Johnson, and Anjelica Houston. Today modern fashion icons like Chrissy Teigen and Sophia Bush have worn vintage Halston from my store in LA, Decades.
S: How would you describe Halston’s sense of style back in the day, aka what was he famous for?
C: Halston created modern, effortless, minimalist American sportswear and glamorous goddess gowns. His work really defines the aesthetic of 1970's chic.
S: What is the personality of the collection for QVC, and why should we be getting excited for the Sept debut?
C: This is the ultimate collection for the sophisticated fashionista who appreciates comfort as much as modern style for a timeless look that goes from casual to cocktail incorporating today's high-fashion trends with the iconic DNA of the legendary House of Halston. From jersey track pants and silk-cashmere knits to sexy jumpsuits and stretch leather leggings, along with fabulous footwear and haute handbags, H by Halston is for women who set the trends.

S: Cameron...tell us more about you. How did you come to a life in fashion and with Halston? Where are you from? Where do you live? What’s the Cameron story?
C: I've been in fashion since I was a student at Beverly Hills High School working at legendary emporium Fred Segal. After graduating UCLA, I cut an album and toured around the country where I started collecting vintage clothing. In 1997, I opened Decades on Melrose Avenue and began dressing Hollywood stars in glamorous red carpet 20th century gowns. Over the last 18 years, I've consulted with a myriad of luxury brands, designed collections in collaboration with Nine West and Miriam Haskell, starred on a Bravo TV show, and wrote a best selling tome on fashion. I now live between LA and NYC and continue to travel extensively giving speeches about the history of fashion in support of my book.
S: Who beyond Halston, is a fav designer of yours and why? Any current trends you are loving, or loathing?
C: I love Azzedine Alaia. Like Halston, Alaia work is instantly recognizable and so inspiring to other designers. It never goes out of style, too. The mixing of athletic elements with high fashion is one of my favorite trends: take a pair of drawstring track pants with a pair of slip on sneakers and top it with a cowl neck pullover and leather jacket for a confident and comfortable on-trend look.
S: What 5 people, present or past (other than Halston) would you most like to have dinner with?
C: This is a hard edit and most are from the past!
Ann Richards - I met her once and I so admired her civic contributions.
Marlene Dietrich - The ultimate glamour icon who would share great stories at dinner and sing for us.
Oprah Winfrey - That picture would get a lot of likes on Instagram!
Albert Einstein - because he'd really never be interested in dinner with me!
Noel Coward because he had the talent to amuse.
S: Sarah Jessica Parker famously wore Halston on Sex In The City. (That was my sad attempt to create a segue to this next irrelevant but fun question) What is your TV guilty pleasure? No, you cannot say QVC.
C: Binge watching True Blood.
S: I hear you have spent the summer making the European fashion rounds. We want to live vicariously, tell us more and do share pics! What were you doing, where and with whom? Feel free to shamelessly name drop.
C: I was in Paris for the Couture shows where I lunched with Donatella Versace and dined with Herve Leger. In Rome, I attended the Valentino Couture show with Italian movie star Yvonne Scio. Finally, I spent the weekend in Portofino with my friends Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana for their glorious Alta Moda show where Kylie Minogue performed.
S: And finally just for kicks, complete these 3 questions:
I would never:
I wish I could
I just can’t stand
C: skydive...fly...meanness
