The Colorful Side of Cooking

So, tonight has finally come! I've been looking forward to March 7 for many months now. All day, I’ll be showing off the latest Technique has to offer—a 10-piece Hard Anodized, Dishwasher-Safe Colorsmart Cookware Set—Today's Special Value. (K36575)

When I first saw this cookware set, it was just a digital rendering. But I was stunned. It was gorgeous! Truly, it was the best-looking cookware I've seen in a long, long time. Of course, I needed to see it in person and put it to the test. The factory sent me samples and I wasn’t disappointed. The physical samples of the cookware were just as, if not more, stunning than the digital renderings. I've been cooking with this set for a few months now, and I'm super thrilled with the performance, too! I've wanted to tell you all about it for so long, but I've been sworn to secrecy about the Today's Special Value until we could reveal it to the entire QVC community. Now the time has come! Let me tell you why I love this cookware.

First of all, we've held on to all the aspects of Technique that you've come to love:

  • It's made of hard anodized aluminum, which is tough, durable, and built to last. It’s also an excellent cooking surface. It conducts the heat evenly and is relatively light, so you can manage it easily.

  • As with our more recent Technique sets, the new set is also dishwasher- safe. Of course, it's easy, easy, EASY to wash by hand, but I've learned that when you CAN put it in the dishwasher, you DO put it in the dishwasher!

  • We've kept the riveted handles on the cookware, which means they’ll never come loose, so you can keep your screwdrivers in the garage where they belong!

  • Because we wanted to make sure the standards of quality were up to the highest degree, we've had this cookware certified by the National Sanitation Foundation, a non-profit organization that has approved this cookware for COMMERCIAL use!

  • On top of all of this, we continue to give Technique cookware a lifetime warranty! You just can't beat that.

But then...we brought some new details to the cookware that make it even more special.

  • COLOR! Oh my goodness, color! I've liked colored cookware in the past, but I've always liked the look of hard anodized cookware more. Now, the best of both worlds—hard anodized aluminum on the outside, keeping the look of the professional, but spectacular (really truly must-be-seen-to-be-believed) color on the nonstick interior. Brilliant Red. Dazzling Blue. Shining Copper. Bold Eggplant. Glowing Green.

  • Better still, this nonstick is PFOA-free AND metal utensil safe. I mention both of those qualities together because recently there’s been a surge of PFOA-free nonstick products on the market. Trouble is that these nonstick items are NOT metal utensil safe, which means they’ll deteriorate rapidly and no longer perform. Technique's nonstick is PFOA-free AND durable enough to handle metal utensils. In fact, when we compared our cookware with our competitors in an abrasion scratch test, our non-stick survived more than 1.2 MILLION cycles of the abrasion test, while other pans failed at 100,000 cycles. Some other non-sticks are even less than that. Make sure your cookware can back up their claims. With Technique, we always have the best nonstick surfaces available, will never lower our standards, and will always back up our claims with extensive testing.

  • More color! We added colored silicone to the handles so that you’ll have a firm grip on the pan, whether the pan is hot or not, and no matter whether your hands are wet or oily. Plus, they look fabulous!

AND, we've put together a fantastic set for this Today's Special Value.

  • The stockpot is a huge, family-sized covered 8-quart stockpot. That's the largest we've ever included in a set of cookware. That's big enough to braise TWO chickens at once, or make chili for up to 16 people!

  • Another family-sized pan included in the set is a beautiful 12-inch skillet. That’s one of my favorite pieces. You can fit so much more in a 12-inch skillet than you can in a 10-inch skillet, and yet the 12-inch skillet isn’t too big for home burners.

  • Not only do you get a covered 3-quart saucepan (without pour spouts, per my request, so you can steam vegetables and cook rice effectively—trust me on this!), but you also get the stainless steel 2-1/2-quart steamer insert as well. I love steaming my vegetables—the most healthful way to cook them—and this saucepan makes it a snap.

  • To make the set even more well-rounded (so to speak), there's also a 9-inch square grill pan included. A grill pan really adds value to your kitchen by allowing you to mark your foods beautifully. You'd be surprised how often food tastes better just because it looks better!

  • In addition, there's my "desert island pan"—a covered 10-inch, 3-quart sauté pan. This is the pan I’d take with me if were stranded on a desert island. The straight sides allow me to add liquids without making a mess, but the wide surface area still lets me sauté. The lid lets me braise in the pan, as well as cover, splatter, or just keep something warm.

  • Finally, the most popular pan—a 10-inch skillet—is in the set too, because how could we live without it?

Phew! I've been waiting to tell you all of that for months! I know it’s a lot to take in, but it's so worth it. Tune in to QVC on March 7 to see it in action. I know you won't be disappointed. If you're in the market for a new set of cookware, know someone who needs a kitchen upgrade, or just love cooking, I'll be on the air Wednesday March 7 at Midnight ET, 7:55am ET, Noon ET, and throughout the day. Don't miss it!
