Bloody Mary

Makes 1

Ingredients:

lemon half

celery salt

1 teaspoon horseradish

3 dashes Tabasco sauce (or more if you like it spicy)

4 dashes Worcestershire sauce (roughly 1 teaspoon)

salt and pepper

2 ounces (1/4 cup) vodka

4 ounces (½ cup) tomato juice

roughly 1 cup ice cubes

Garnish (celery rib, cooked shrimp, pickled green beans, lemon wedges, stuffed olives, cooked bacon)

Directions:

  1. Prepare a tall glass (flared pint, highball or Hurricane glass) by running the lemon half around the rim and dipping the rim of the glass into the celery salt. Set the glass aside.
  2. Combine the horseradish, Tabasco® sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, vodka and tomato juice in a pint glass or cocktail shaker. Squeeze a little lemon juice in.
  3. Fill a second glass with ice cubes. Pour the Bloody Mary back and forth a few times from one glass to another. This will chill the drink down and mix all the flavors. Finally, pour the drink (including the ice cubes) into the prepared tall glass.
  4. Garnish with any number of garnishes and enjoy!

Makes 6

Ingredients:

1 lemon, cut in half and the second half into wedges

celery salt

2 tablespoons horseradish

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

salt and pepper

12 ounces (1½ cups) vodka

24 ounces (3 cups) tomato juice

ice cubes

Tabasco sauce

Garnish (celery rib, cooked shrimp, pickled green beans, lemon wedges, stuffed olives, cooked bacon)

Directions:

  1. Prepare the tall glasses (flared pint, highball or Hurricane glass) by running the lemon wedges around the rim and dipping the rim of the glasses into the celery salt. Set the glasses aside.
  2. Combine the horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, vodka and tomato juice in a tall pitcher. Squeeze half a lemon into the mix. Stir well.
  3. Prepare the Bloody Mary bar by placing the pitcher of Bloody Mary mix and glasses next to an ice bucket and all the garnishes you might enjoy. Make the Tabasco® sauce a part of the garnish so that people can customize their level of spiciness.
