Hi everyone,

Thank you for all of your kind messages about the new cookbook on my QVC blog, my new Blue Jean Chef Facebook page, and on Twitter. Halloween was a very exciting day for me as I launched not only the new cookbook, but also the new line of Blue Jean Chef products as well. I hope you were able to catch a glimpse of things in between handing out candy to the ghosts and goblins! I'm excited to hear what you think of the products and the cookbook as they start to arrive in your homes. The week leading up to the launch was absolutely exhausting for me. The anticipation of the day almost killed me, and all I could do the following Monday was clean the house and backyard. I had to take a day-long break which is not something I do very often. Exhausting as it was, the cookbook was a great success and we ended up selling just under 26,000 books! It was loads of fun and I thank you all for all of your support.

This Sunday, I'm back in the kitchen with David. I'm lucky enough to have David making his recipe item in my brand-new Technique cast iron 5-qt. casserole dish (K30159). I love it when he makes his recipe in my item because I get to taste it first! Smiley Happy I won't tell you what his recipe is, but I will tell you that the cast iron casserole he's using to make it is really something special and new. It is cast iron, but with decorative designs and patterns on it quite unusual. You'll be able to choose from three different colors, each with their own unique patterns. With a 5-qt. capacity, it’s a good size and perfect for all the stews, chilies, and soups that we're starting to make now. I'm going to show you a few more dishes from the Blue Jean Chef cookbook, Blue Jean Chef: Comfortable in the Kitchen (F08961) in this casserole, as well.

As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s important to make sure you have all the pots, pans, plates, and platters that you need. Here's a tip for you: you can, of course, cook and serve in this cast iron casserole, but you can also just use it as a serving dish to keep foods warm. Fill the casserole half full with water and heat it in an oven at 200ºF for 20 minutes, or heat on the stovetop until it’s boiling. Empty the casserole and fill it with whatever food you want to keep warm (mashed potatoes? sweet potatoes? pumpkin soup?). The cast iron will hold the heat and keep your foods warm at the table AND it’ll look great, too.

Hope you enjoy the casserole and the recipes from the cookbook. Tell me, what would you make in a 5-qt. cast iron casserole?
