I’d like to begin by saying...“Thank You”….. for welcoming me into the QVC family!  I would also like to officially introduce myself….Hi… I am Katie McGee.. that is a big “G” in the McGee..

I am a proud Jersey Girl who loves the shore and Bruce Springsteen (my wedding song was “Thunder Road”), I adore my dog Norman and I am an avid animal lover.  Norman is excited to be part of the QVC family too!

I love to cook.. and to eat!  I’ve never met a french fry I didn’t like. And I love to read. I’m a huge football and baseball fan… even though I can’t play a sport to save my life,  I am a trained singer.  I’m a skin cancer survivor, so don’t forget the sunscreen!  I love weekend road trips, and spending time with family, my 3 nephews, and my hubby Jason. 

But you probably wanted to know how did I actually get here.. here is the condensed version of my journey.

I’ve always believed in the power of television to teach, to inspire, to entertain and more.  After a few years post-college of trying to figure what I wanted to do with my life… a light bulb went off one afternoon watching Oprah.  I wanted to work in the medium where I could feel connected and reach many people.  So… knowing you can’t just go out and get your own TV show (at least not before reality TV)… I decided I should start where Oprah did:  local news.  So I did!  

 

The beauty of being so inexperienced and young was I didn’t know how hard things could or should be.  I just went for it.   I got a gig at a local radio station… which quickly led to a job as a traffic reporter in NYC… and that turned into 15 years of covering traffic, entertainment, health and more in the greatest city in the world.  I got to meet people I never could have imagined… Including my husband, Jason!  

 

As great as my job was… I knew I wanted to be doing something different.  But I wasn’t sure what that was until I got a call about an audition for QVC.  I turned on the TV to see what it was all about…and boom.  I immediately knew this is where I wanted to be.  How great to be able to spend my day sharing products that can make life easier and make someone feel better about themselves…. and to have FUN!!!!

 

So I watched and learned (from the best in the biz) and after several rounds of auditions and many more months of training… here I am.  

 

I am so honored to be part of this team of amazing people… the ones you see on TV and the ones you don’t.  QVC truly is a family… and I still pinch myself that they opened their arms and welcomed me in!   And you are part of that family, too!  

So let’s have fun!!!  I’m looking forward to learning with you and about you… to sharing stories… and to inspiring each other to do things we never thought possible.  That’s what the power of TV can do.
