We all love take out, but it may not be the best option. So here's my recipe to whip up your own!
Recipe
Take Out Umami Stir Fry (or Easy Kickin Asian Take Out)
Serves 2-4
Ingredients:
2, 6 oz sirloin steaks
1/4 pound snap peas
1 red bell pepper
1 clove garlic, minted
fresh ginger, about 1/2 inch, peeled and finely chopped or grated
1/4 cup slivered almonds
2 TB black & white sesame seeds
1/2 head cauliflower
1/2 lb Cremini mushrooms
Sriracha sauce (optional)
1/4 cup Ginger Lime sauce (recipe below) or use store-bought Hoisin sauce or favorite Asian flavor
3 TB Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to taste
Directions
Chop red bell pepper into small dice. Cut cauliflower into bite size pieces. Cut snap peas in half on diagonal. Wipe mushrooms clean with damp paper towel. Remove stems and cut caps into 1/4 inch slices.
Prep Steaks
Cut sirloin at an angle, against the grain into about 1/4 inch thick strips. Season with salt and pepper.
Heat 1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil in large sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, cauliflower and red pepper to pan. Season with salt and pepper. Cook 2-3 minutes, or until veggies begin to soften. Stir occasionally.
Move veggies to sides of pan. Add additional 2 teaspoons olive oil to center. Cook for 2 minutes without stirring, then combine steak and veggies together.
Add ginger and garlic to the pan with steak and veggies. Cook another 2 minutes. Reduce heat to medium.
Add Hoison sauce (or other favorite Asian flavor, I like to use a ginger/lime sauce I find in the grocery store) along with 3-4 TB of water to pan. Add Snow Peas. Cook 3-4 minutes or until veggies are tender.
Roughly chop almonds and add to pan with veggies and stir. Salt and pepper to taste.
Divide steak and veggies between bowls. Sprinkle with black and white sesame seeds and add desired amount of Sriracha sauce if you like a little spice. If you don't, omit altogether. Enjoy.
