My husband Joe and I have a farm in Eastern Pennsylvania. It’s 35 acres with two barns, a few run-in sheds and our 18th century log cabin—all 1,800 square feet of it. We love the rustic charm of our cozy home – it’s been our ideal retreat. As much as we love the fact it fits the two of us perfectly and maybe one guest comfortably, it didn’t leave us much room (sorry for the pun) to entertain family and friends. This gave me and Joe the perfect excuse to design our ideal outdoor entertaining space.  Here are a few pictures from last weekend – Joe and I had the ideal day with family.

Our Outdoor Kitchen Space

The double grill was a huge treat for us. One side can be used to sear meat, chicken, vegetables… and the other to grill.  It’s the fanciest thing I’ve ever seen. To the left is the pizza oven. Also under the island is an ice machine, small refrigerator and trash bin.

I love this view from our dining table.  Any season provides the perfect setting to enjoy a meal.

The farm’s own cook and waiter!

I think I have the greatest view when I am in the kitchen looking out on friends and family around the wood burning fireplace.  The roof and beams were constructed by local Amish builders out of Douglas Fir. The warmth and smells from the fireplace make any day or night just perfect.  I look forward to rainy fall days and snowy evenings when I can cozy up with a book and blanket.

You can’t beat the views.  I truly am one very lucky girl.

Until next time!
