Sugar Cookies - Katie 2.jpgBaking Christmas cookies is a holiday tradition that goes back about as far as I can remember! This recipe has been in our family forever... as soon as I smell the dough, I’m a little girl in my Nanny’s kitchen at Christmas time.  She was an amazing cook, but an even better Great-Grandmother!  Hope you enjoy Nanny’s Sugar Cookies!

Nanny’s Sugar Cookies

2 eggs

1 cup Crisco

1 cup Sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract

2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

Pinch salt

Sugar/colored sugar/sprinkles

Cookie cutters

Combine first 5 ingredients, mix with wooden spoon and set aside.  Mix together flour/baking powder/salt in a separate bowl... then slowly add into 1st bowl.  Roll dough into a large bowl, cover and chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours.

When ready, cover counter or table with wax paper, and flour the surface.  Roll out dough in portions, and use cookie cutters to create your favorite holiday images!  Sprinkle with sugar/colored sugar/sprinkles, and bake at 350 for 6-8 minutes.  Enjoy!
