Like Daughter, Like Mother!

This is a story of being inspired by your children, and getting out of your comfort zone!

This spring my daughter Cara performed at The Media Theatre in West Side Story.  It was a wonderful show, and I had so much fun bringing many of your favorite QVC family members to see her light up the stage!

During the production, we saw that the next run would be Always, Patsy Cline starring Broadway's Jenny Lee Stern.  She is a powerhouse performer and is famous for the role of Patsy Cline.  My niece Janette decided to see the show with her Dad, since the Father/Daughter dance at her wedding was "Crazy" by Patsy Cline.  Her Dad would play Patsy's records when she was young, and it was a beautiful moment at the wedding.

One day during the West Side Story run I received a call from the Artistic Director of the Media Theatre, Jesse Cline.  He asked would I be interested in appearing in the final weekend of Always, Patsy Cline, since they were reaching out to several women in TV and radio to do the show.  Amazingly, I was able to work the dates since my QVC schedule didn't conflict.  Although I had never acted a day in my life, I decided to get out of my comfort zone and say yes!

What a challenge, yet what an experience!  To be on stage for two hours with Jenny Lee Stern was incredible, playing the part of Louise, Patsy's biggest fan.  Learning about Patsy and her music was wonderful too.  I had butterflies the size of giant moths going into my first show, but luckily I made it through.  And I loved it!  So many wonderful QVC friends came to cheer me on.

One of my favorite moments was when I went to my dressing room on opening night and there was a bouquet of flowers waiting for me, with this note:

"Break legs tonight!  Congratulations on your Media Theatre Debut!  I love you so much and I am so proud of you.  You will light up the stage! Love, Cara"
