Judith Ripka Smithsonian Ring

Hello friends,

I hope that all of you enjoyed a wonderful summer.  I can hardly believe it is time to say goodbye to barbeques, beach days, and breathtaking summer sunsets.  The good news is that there have been some sweet signs of fall with hints of cooler days and the city already bustling with New Yorkers back from the Hamptons.  For me, the real sign that fall is here is Fashion Week, which starts on Saturday, September 11.  After 17-years of the being hosted at Bryant Park, the venue has changed to Lincoln Center.  I am looking forward to a new buzz and freshness in the air, which I am sure will make the runway shows feels even more exciting.  The start of Fashion Week is just the beginning of what looks like will be one of my busiest months ever.

On Monday, September 13th from 1 PM to 2 PM, I will be at the QVC Pop Up.  The store is located in New York City located at 10 West 49th Street at Fifth Avenue, so for those of you who either live in the city or want to drive in for a fun day of fall shopping, I hope that you will stop by and say hello.  I love meeting customers like you and hearing your feedback.  I always feel inspired by seeing what you are wearing and  how you style it.  As I have said before, the first thing I do when I get home from meeting customers is start sketching pieces to coordinate with the ones they are wearing, so I have already told Ron we cannot schedule dinner plans, because I know I will want to have some quiet time in my studio after the event.

I am especially looking forward to Tuesday, September 14 at 7 PM (ET) as QVC will debuting what is my most historic and monumental piece yet, a custom ring design that I created in honor of the 100th anniversary of Cartier cutting of the Blue Heart diamond, the most famous blue diamond ever next to the Hope Diamond.  The remarkable Blue Heart diamond was found at the Premier Mine, South Africa, in 1908. This 30.62 carat heart-shaped, brilliant cut blue diamond was faceted by French jeweler Atanik Eknayan of Paris in 1909-1910 from a 100.5ct piece of rough.  The stone was purchased by the French jeweler, Pierre Cartier in 1910.

Cartier cut it into a heart in 1910, and I am honored that of all of the contemporary designers, the Smithsonian allowed me to redesign this historic stone.  Re-designing the setting of this heart shaped diamond to be more modern and contemporary felt natural and was one of the most exciting design experiences of my career.

Please tune into QVC on Tuesday, September 14 at 7 PM (ET) to see my design and have the opportunity to purchase this beautiful piece inspired by this rare gemstone.  This is a true couture piece.  This Sterling Blue Topaz Diamond Ring features a 15 mm heart-shaped London blue topaz, which is surrounded by blue diamonds and held in place by two fleur de lis that are adorned with white diamonds.  It will    be available through QVC starting September 14 at QVC.com or 1.800.345.1515, while supplies last.  This ring will be the most significant Judith Ripka piece in your collection to date, and I know you will treasure this very special piece for many years to come.

With much love,

Judith
