Q: Are there minutes included with this phone?

A: Yes, 1500 minutes are included with 365 service days.


Q: Do I need to activate my phone right away?

A: Phone must be activated within 60 days from order date in order to redeem the promotional 1500 minutes. Phone can be activated at any time outside of the 60 days, but the promotional minutes cannot be redeemed after 60 days from the order date.


Q: Is there a way to use the phone’s features without activating service?

A: Some features may be accessible without activation: camera/camcorder, calendar, notepad, and other productivity tools. Calling, texting, emailing, web browsing, and other main functions will require activation.


Q: How do you activate the phone?

A: Activate phone with TracFone Customer service at or by calling 1-800-867-7183. Promotional airtime must be redeemed from The Wireless Center by calling 1-888-238-0828 (after phone has been activated by TracFone).


Q: Are there activation fees?

A: No.


Q: Do the airtime minutes expire?

A: Yes, the promotional 1500 minutes are good for 365 days from the date they are added to your device. All airtime denominations have a corresponding number of service days attached to them. You may roll over unused minutes if you add another airtime card before your service end date.


Q: If the phone is returned before using all of the time purchased, will there be a refund on unused time?

A: Unused airtime and funds paid toward airtime are non-refundable.


Q: Is a complete owner’s manual included? If not, where can it be found?

A: A full owner’s manual is not included in this package. You may find further information on the phone’s functions at Select SUPPORT and, under the HOW-TO section, select Learn More about Your Phone. Select your phone model LG840G.


Q: Will it work with Adobe Flash programs?

A: Phone is not compatible with Adobe Flash.


Q: Can I move my existing cell phone number to the new phone?

A: Yes, existing phone numbers can be transferred. Porting or transferring your existing number to TracFone may take several days to complete. You may be without service during this time. Some restrictions may apply.


Q: If I move my phone number from a different carrier, will the unexpired minutes transfer?

A: No, minutes from other carriers will not transfer to TracFone.


Q: If I transfer my number from a different TracFone phone, will the unexpired minutes transfer?

A: Transfer of existing TracFone minutes is under the discretion of TracFone customer service. Transfer of existing minutes is not guaranteed. 


Q: Can I transfer my landline phone number to this phone?

A: Landline numbers can be transferred. Porting or transferring your existing number to TracFone may take several days to complete. You may be without service during this time. Some restrictions may apply.


Q: Can you make calls to Canada or Mexico?

A: TracFone offers over 100 international destinations for their international long distance. Please visit for a complete list of destinations as well as instructions to use this feature.


Q: Can you use the phone in Canada to call the US?

A: This phone cannot be used outside the United States, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Service is not guaranteed and may vary.


Q: Can the phone be used for international calls?

A: International calling (US-based calls) is included with TracFone service and will deduct minutes as normal. Please see TracFone for a complete list of the International Destinations calling they offer.


Q: Can I download Android apps to this phone?

A: Android apps are not compatible with this phone.


Q: Where do you get the apps?

A: Games and apps can be downloaded or purchased under the Games & Apps folder in the phone menu.


Q: Does the phone have text-to-speech capability?

A: No, but the phone has a Voice Recorder feature that you can record voice recordings. It does not transcribe to text.


Q: How many megapixels does the camera have?

A: 2MP.


Q: Does it have a flash for the camera?

A: No.


Q: Is the phone 3G- or 4G-capable?

A: 3G-capable.


Q: Is the phone Wi-Fi-capable?

A: Yes.


Q: Can it be used as a wireless hotspot?

A: No.


Q: Can you watch videos or download music to the phone?

A: You can record and watch video files and download MP3 files.


Q: Does it support YouTube video?

A: Phone does support YouTube video when connected to Wi-Fi.


Q: Can you get AOL and Yahoo email on this phone?

A: Yes.


Q: Can you give different ringtones to different contacts?

A: Yes. Select a contact, select edit, and scroll to the bottom. Open + More Fields. Select Ringtone, then select Custom Ringtone, and Save.


Q: Does it have visual voicemail?

A: No.


Q:  Does this have voicemail and caller ID?

A: Yes.


Q: Do I get free 911?

A: Yes.


Q: Can I send and receive a picture on this?

A: Yes.


Q: Can the firmware be updated?

A: No.


Q: Does it have a GPS app for getting directions? 

A: Third-party Google Maps app is available for download.


Steps for downloading Google Maps app:


*Open Browser from the device (LG840).

*Open URL - The following webpage will say, “Get Jar does not recognize device/phone.” You will then Select JAVA for the device platform.

*Type "Google Maps" into search field and select OK.

*When search is complete, scroll down and find Google Maps (do not select Maps by Google Inc.).

*Press OK.

*Scroll down again and select "Download" and select OK.

*Message will appear “Cont. no signed”

*Select OK to continue.

*Select OK to save.

*Google Maps will be saved to the folder Games and App.


Q: Is the phone GPS-enabled?  What does that mean?

A: You must download a third-party App for GPS. Tracfone does not have a GPS feature pre-loaded onto the device.


Q: Does this have Internet access?

A: Yes.


Q: Does it require an anti-virus program?

A: No.


Q: Does it have push-to-talk like a walkie talkie?

A: No.


Q: Is there a credit check?

A: No.


Q: Do minutes round up or down?

A: Round up; any portion of a minute used will count as one full minute.


Q: Does billing begin at the start of the ring or at the beginning of the call?

A: Minute use begins as soon as the call is answered.


Q: Are local and long distance calls the same price?

A: Yes.


Q: Is mobile to a landline included?

A: Mobile to landline will deduct airtime minutes per usual.


Q:  Are their termination fees or penalties if I stop using the phone?

A: No.


Q:  Can I buy the phone cards for this phone at Walmart, CVS, etc.?

A: Yes, TracFone airtime cards are available at participating retail locations. You may also visit to replenish your airtime.


Q: Is termination required?

A: No.


Q: Will it scan bar codes?

A: No.


Q: When connected via Wi-Fi, is the customer charged minutes for Internet usage?

Yes. Minutes will deduct as normal even when connected to Wi-Fi.

Q: Will the customer receive the same make, model, and year phone as a replacement?

A: Yes, but if the same handset model is no longer available for replacement, an equivalent/comparable model will be provided. Replacement model will be determined by The Wireless Center.


Q: Will the replacement accessories be identical to the original?

A: Yes, but if the same handset model is no longer available for replacement, an equivalent/comparable model will be provided. Replacement model will be determined by The Wireless Center.


Q: Will the handset or the accessory be new or refurbished?

A: New.


Q: If the phone is replaced, will the contacts, apps, and other content be transferred to the new phone?

A: No. Information and other handset provisioned features such applications, content including but not limited to music, e-wallet, photos, contacts, wireless phone number, and other data, are not covered by the program.


Q: Is there any limit to the number of replacements you can get?

A: The Wireless Center may choose to limit product replacements to 12 handset replacements per calendar year and 24 accessory replacements per calendar year.


Q: Is there any limit to the number of years a customer can get replacements for the handset or accessories?

A: No.


Q: Are there any fees involved?

A: Customer pays shipping and handling for any handset or accessory replacement requests. S&H fees subject to change.


Q: Will the Shipping and Handling fees always be the same as when the customer purchased the phone?

A: Shipping and handling fees will vary depending on selected ship method. Current Shipping and Handling fees are listed on the replacement request (web and manual form). S&H fees subject to change.


Q: Do you have to have a credit, debit, or check card to get a replacement?

A: No.
