Cruise Update 3 - Animals I Met Along The Way

by on ‎03-11-2016 05:52 PM

My entire life I’ve been drawn to animals. I love everything about them, am fascinated by them and have a great amount of respect for them.  So, it came as no surprise that some of my greatest moments from my cruise ship travels involved tours where I got to see and sometimes even interact with the local animals.  Here’s a look at a few of my favorite moments with animals around the world.

It was love at first sight when this little penguin and I locked eyes in Argentina!! I think he liked my all black outfit.

Here’s another little guy – I couldn’t help but capture this moment. What a joy to see him soaking in the sun and the water.  Look at that puffy little chest!!

Here’s a very very old turtle in the Galapagos being shy. I guess this guy wasn’t sold on my attempt to blend in.

Here’s one more. I think I might have interrupted his lunch.  Oops!

This monkey in Bali had one thing on his mind and that was to GET THAT BANANA. Guess who got the banana – he did!!

I loved feeding the kangaroos in Australia.

I probably could have lived without this experience, in fact next time I’ll pass. Regardless as far as snakes are concerned this one was sweet – at least to me.

Here I am on Komodo Island in search of the Komodo Dragon. Hmmm, do I REALLY want to run into one of those?

OK – spotted! Now we can LEAVE!!  Taxi!

The elephants around the world were amazing. So gentle, so loving.  This is Champu, he gave me a ride around Thailand, so I fed him and bathed him afterwards!!

On the other hand, I saw wild elephants on a safari in South Africa and I definitely wasn’t sticking around to feed them!

Nor was I sticking around to feed this guy!

The giraffes at the game reserve seemed surreal to me. I’d only seen giraffes in zoos, so it was hard to believe that they were actually living in the wild.  So graceful and beautiful.

This cayman on the other hand was a bit of a surprise to see while cruising down the Amazon. I think I’ll stay in the boat, thanks.

Here’s an animal I felt safe with in the Amazon! J  Hello…QVC, I’d like to order the Dennis Basso raincoat.  It never stops raining here in the Amazon.

I could watch the koalas all day in Australia!! That eucalyptus really does the trick!

But the jumping crocodiles in New Zealand were enough to keep me out of the water.

How about this?! A cow walking freely down the street in India.

This little guy won cutest goat award in my book. He lived in Togo, Africa.

One of the highlights of my life was watching the whales of Alaska breach! My mom and I watched this momma and baby swim together.

This is what the dogs looked like in parts of Peru!!

But the ultimate highlight of all time was cage diving with the Great White Shark in South Africa. It’s an amazing experience to be eye to eye with the apex of the ocean’s food chain!  WOW!!

There’s a few animal highlights from my travels. There are so many more amazing creatures around this beautiful world and they should all be valued.  Thank you for allowing me to share this with you!  Have a beautiful day and give your pets an extra pet today!

Love,

Elise
