Beach Blanket Babies

I've been going to the beach as far back as I can remember.  Since I am originally from New York, we went to Long Island,  Jones beach, Field #4.  I would get so excited as I would see the giant needle-shaped water tower from miles away on the Ocean Parkway.  I called it the "Big Pencil", and knew that the ocean's wonders were only a few minutes away.  I haven't been back to Jones Beach in many years, but there are so many beautiful places in New Jersey and Delaware that there is always something new to discover.

Yesterday’s ThrowBack Thursday post was one of the only times that my mom and dad took us to the Jersey Shore…. Wildwood.  It only took one time – I was hooked!

My husband grew up in Las Vegas, so there was a ton of sand, but obviously no surf!  LOL  Now, I have introduced him to the East Coast beaches and we have been going every year since.

Then, the kids came along, and I wasn't sure how they would respond to sand in their bathing suits!  But luckily, that didn't seem to matter.  My kids love the waves, the rides, the boardwalk, the food (ahh, the food!), and the relaxation.  Don’t you just love a nap on the beach with the soothing ocean sounds in the background?  Here is 2 year old Kaylee doing exactly that!

And some baby beach bonding… “Why yes that is a beautiful shell, Kaylee!”  (Desi is 1 and Kaylee is 3)

Here they are a little older, just taking in all the beauty of the ocean.

Even though I need to protect my skin with a heavy duty SPF, (I love Supergoop for my entire family!) I actually think my skin feels better at the beach because of the salt water.  I love how polished and smooth it becomes.  Also, I need some volume in my hair, and salt water beach hair is simply the best.

Have you ever just taken some sand and polished your feet with it?  Nothing beats the natural exfoliation of sand!  It's a pedicure every time you take your sandals off!  I only wish I could get there more often.  Oh well….. until next time, sweet surf...I’ll be dreaming about you!
