Adventures Around the World

I have been very fortunate in my jewelry career and look forward to sharing with you some of my experiences, adventures, and knowledge.

My adventure started in Hong Kong in 1976 during my first around the world trip setting up an import/export company. I then obtained a Graduate Gemologist or GG degree leading to a position as the gemstone, pearl, and diamond buyer for a major retailer. The adventure continued in the Far East with my move to Bangkok and Hong Kong for four years where I met my future bosses from QVC.

My years at QVC have included a whirlwind of travel experiences, from the hill tribes in northern Thailand helping the natives switch from “burn and slash” farming to jewelry making to searching the gemstone mines in Brazil for new stone opportunities. I have learned so much over the 30 years that I have been in the jewelry industry and have been able to travel and experience 58 different countries around the world. It has been a true adventure and I look forward to not only sharing some of these experiences and the knowledge I have gained with you but also hearing from you about your adventures and what you love about jewelry.

Every three days or so I will be posting an experience or tidbit about gemstone lore, travel experiences, trend forecasts, sneak previews of what's coming up, and anything else that you want to discuss. I look forward to your questions and comments.

I would like to extend a big thank you to those that welcomed me! This new part of the journey has just begun and I am anxious for us to experience it together.
